    iPod Integration available today?!?

    I got a call by a Porsche Centre in the south of Germany yesterday evening. They told me that they are now in the position to order "the Ipod solution" that they promised me to install a year ago. Well, it all takes longer than expected. It seems, that Dension has managed to complete their product just now. The Centre promised me to call early next year again to report whether it works.

    Cool, can't wait to hear the review. Does your car have the CD changer? Are you gonna do the installation? Do you have nav?

    I've got a 987S with PCM 2.1 with Nav. No CD changer.

    I think that Dension is a more established company in this field, and has more resources to properly complete the product than others currently marketing iPod adapters (Nav-TV, others). Besides, Nav-TV wouldn't even return my calls when trying to purchase their product which doesn't bode well for trying to get support after they get my money.

    Dice Electronics, which is also releasing an adapter shortly is fairly new to making such adapters. The associated company (Dension USA) is not affiliated with Dension (a European company) and primarily has had experience reselling Dension adapters vs. designing their own.

    This is why I took the plunge with the Dension unit so early after the release.

    I have the nav-tv product in my 997....bottom line dont touch it....there are a lot of bugs and problems with the unit......my installer is going to be swapping it out for the dension product as soon as it becomes available. He has already seen the prototype and tells me it is a far superior unit which much more functionality and integrates better with the pcm unit. Will let you know more once they put it in.

    Any idea when this might happen NAD? There are many of us out here desperate to use an ipod on a long journey without a FM transmitters quality loss.

    Nad,

    Who's your installer? Are they somewhere in London? I'd like to explore the possibility of a Dension unit myself. My sister finally got her iPod integration fitted in her new TT yesterday - she's been waiting months for it also.

    auto audio in london did my install on the nav-tv....very professional outfit (they were recommended by my porsche dealer) and they are also going to swap out the unit for the dension one once they can get hold of it.....they tell me it should be available any day now but personally i feel we are probably looking at sometime in january.
