    Re: Jean Todt's 599

Maybe I'm just wierd but I don't like his aluminium coloured car. It's too bling IMHO.

It's every police officer's dream! When he is standing there at the side of the road with his LIDAR gun and you rocket by at 100+ mph, he will think Christmas has come early .

Though MC (and to some extent Lond) is EU's version of LA, w/lots of "look-at-me, I got me some money" guys, so blingy F's do have some mkt appeal.....and why let the aftermkt mods guys capture the increm profits from tasteless options???

And, from what I gather, many of the police in SFrance/MC know to be rather polite and hands-off w/many of the characters who drive some of these cars, i.e., guys w/armed entourages and an easy willingness to use firepower against anyone to settle grievances ...and other guys who drive such cars in MC know how to use their "philanthropic" efforts to prop up the local, tourism-dpdt economies/politicians......so speeding tickets are fairly irrelevant.....

    Re: Jean Todt's 599

He also has that horrid purple 612 Scaglietti.

    Re: Jean Todt's 599

    BLING BLING

I had no idea that Jean todt was a white hip-hop rapper from MTv

Well, let's say he has a very extraordinary taste.

Okay, you've seen his black Maranello. Here's a pic of his old 612...

    Re: Jean Todt's 599

... and his new 612 with GTC package:

    Re: Jean Todt's 599

    ... and his F430 Spider:

    Re: Jean Todt's 599

After having seen his new silver 599, one might think his "blue period" is over.

    Re: Jean Todt's 599

I don't think any of this cars look good. Very tasteless

    Re: Jean Todt's 599

he seems to smoke all of his tailights

Good thinking! So all I need to do is become affluent enough that an entire country is dependant on me and I'm off the hook .

Well, most semi-capitalist places on planet tend to like affluent guys who donate generously to local police/politicians/make economy happen/are major taxpayers....they know guys like that also tend to have competent legal representation....and, in case of some guys in MC, their own "police force" to address issues....

As one rather affluent, shrewd EU pal put it to me, his impression is diffce btwn notably corrupt EU countries and allegedly less corrupt EU/US places is that some just pretend to be more "socialist"/equitable on some media-visible issues and paper over any seams w/"philanthropy" for a "good cause".....

So would argue guys w/silly things like radar/laser detectors, etc tend to be lacking real "resources".....

BTW, seemingly, no one has yet observed what paychks/net worths of even senior F execs are vs those of major, repeat F custs.....may explain a few things, as any cars (even FXX/599) are ultimately trivial purchases vs $50MM+ private planes/houses/art, etc....

My sense is, in any global epicenter accustomed to smart guys w/resources (e.g., NYC/Lond/SF, etc), guys who are "plugged in" aren't hassled for silly things, like trivial speeding allegations.....

However, most smart guys w/resources know when/where it makes sense to drive in a more spirited manner; aren't really in the game of "proving" anything to anyone anymore (so street racing is largely a foreign, ricer/rapper-wannabe concept)....and if a guy w/resources causes a collision (esp w/injuries/death to other parties), at least in the US, there are plenty of prosecutors who will consider criminal charges (and judges/juries who would consider jail time to send a "message"); plaintiffs' lawyers who will salivate over poss civil settlements; and media which will capture some ratings/ad revenues over a sensational story.....great checks/balances to cause guys w/resources to carefully consider their driving style, esp if/when risking lives of others....

I'd say that's what makes the difference. Especially driving high-powered vehicles one can loose the urge to present himself on the street pretty urgently.

From my understanding, the legislative vigour to follow delinquencies in traffic is much lower in Europe than in the US.

    Couldn't have said it better

    Re: Jean Todt's 599

Thee 599 is the only one that does anything for me.

    Re: Jean Todt's 599

Todt doesn't worry about beeing fined for speeding because he has the status of ambassador of San Marino Republica (which is located in Italy, not to far from Modena, and where a F1 GP is held every year in spring), like M. Schumacher.

You can see it on the plate of his former black 575 because of the letters "CD" (D stands for diplomatic, I forgot about the C).

Generally speaking, it is in France a problem, because France has known many scandals due to the diplomates impunity, for e.g. one from Africa that has hitted someone while driving drunk and could never get pursued.

BTW, J. Todt stated once he is not very keen on red Ferraris.
