    Michelin PS2 VS Pirelli Corsa tyres (semi-slick)

    Which one is better for track? Michelin PS2 (not cup) or Pirelli Corsa (semi-slick)

    Depends probably on the car and condition. A tire tester from Porsche told me that the new Michelin PS2 with the two compounds which are used on the new Turbo are very good and currently his choice. He preferred them even to the Corsas which in the dry do not have a really advantage to the Michelin.

    I could not really believe this. But he said that the outer half of the Michael tire is a semi-slicks comound while the inner part is normal. Thus you have best of both worlds. In a fast turn on the track, the cars run more on the outer part with and thus gets the necessary stability.

    Well I can only relate what I saw at the track. My friend had Michelin PS2 at te ring on his Porsche 997TT and lapped consistently around 8.50-9 (with traffic). He then switched to PZero Corza the next day and cut about 15 seconds from his times. Traffic wasn't better and humidity and temps were about the same. He felt the corzas gripped better. I only drove his car on Corsas and compared to my experience with my 997S X51 last year, I'd say the PZero Corsas are grippier.

    working temperature, but of course, the racing slick should have higher working temp. For places like HK and Taiwan, I think it might be too dangerous for street use???

    I have spent a lot ot time on the track with the PS2s, but in a Corvette. They are great, good tracting when cold and you can get away from the guys on track tire. When they warm up they are still good but the hot racing tires on other cars then get better. The PS2s are good on the street wet or dry. I don't want to change tires for the track so I keep buying the PS2s.

    Neither Use Toyo R888 Track tyre on both road and track is a cut slick but grips better than the Corsa by a mile and lasts longer than the Mich, also more stable than the Mich , very noisy to use on the road ( a lot of tyre noise ) but oh the grip levels and the Toyo is just 60% of the cost of the Mich !!

    Corsas are a better track tire than the ps2. But the msc cups are the best on the track.
    FWIW, Hoosier is selling racing tires at less than 300 each.

    there are three different versions of pirelli corsas available. which one are we talking about?
    and there are also several different versions of michelin ps2 tyres out there.

    please be me specific.

    For track usage, everyone is kidding themselves if they think there is a better tire than the Hoosier R6

    Sorry the r888 is better than the Mich by a country mile , Mich's onlg get so much useage because of there tie up with the Porsche Cup deal and Porsche Clubs!! Hoosiers no idea on a Porsche used Hoosier on my oval race cars yes very very good but the wear rates Has anybody in the US tried the Toyo r888 ! worth a go if not cost is good and track consistency superb , just need 1 full heat cycle and they are ready .

    Hoosiers will last anywhere from 1-4 hard weekends, depending on how much on-track time and the care you take to measure and adjust the tire temps/pressures.

    Hoosier wear is very similar to the R888 Toyo's i get 4 t/days and the use in between usually 2000 Road miles + the T/days

    with Hoosiers I use around 26-28psi cold and bleeding off over 40 psi. But most importantly I use a contact pyrometer to check the inner, middle, and outer temps of each tire

    Is the Toyo R888 the same as the Toyo RA-1, as I couldn't find R888 on the Toyo website. Thanks.

    No do not think so it s quite a new tyre for 2006 , just ordered 2 more sets for the 997TT ( only thing i will say by the way ) very very noisy for road use i am talking turn up the BOSE !!
