One service per year, according to detailed service plan, don't matter how many miles. Belt service every third year.
Belt service should be 1/3 of the 355.

    how much $$?

As somebody told me once when I asked how much insurance he pays for his F40: "if you have to ask, you can't afford one". Of course the 360 Modena is expensive to maintain compared to "normal" cars.
My 996 Turbo was cheaper to maintain (with the exception of insurance cost) than my wife's second car, an Audi A3 with a 1.8 litre engine and 125 HP.

Re: how expensive is it to maintain and "service" the 360 ?

Insurance for the F40 should be (maximum) 2.5% of the market price (i.e. 2.5%x240.000=6.000 Euro p.a.).

In relation, the insurance for the modena is slightly more expensive. Approximately Euro 4.000 p.a. should do it. The standard service at 20.000 km or once per year is roughly Euro 2.000 plus extra costs for spare parts.

Re: how expensive is it to maintain and "service" the 360 ?

Don't worry, I don't buy a F40 because I really can't afford one. Being able to afford one means to be able to pay for every cost which might appear over the years of ownership, including insurance, a new engine and other nice things.

For my Cayenne Turbo, I pay now 1300 Euro for FULL COVERAGE (500 Euro self payment) per year. For my 996 Turbo with "official" (written in the car documents) 543 HP, I paid 2600 Euro for full coverage. A Ferrari 360 Modena would have costed me the same money. I'm at 30% "insurance rate" now, driving fast but no accidents.
Of course this is valid for Germany only!
My insurance only has "problems" with cars over 250000 Euro value, this is where the "trouble" starts. But I can get insurance for any car, since my 20th birthday (I'm 39 now), I'm driving cars over 200 HP and no accidents (not on the street ). We have four cars and the average HP figure is 319 HP. All cars are insured at the same insurance and I think they know they don't risk anything.

Re: how expensive is it to maintain and "service" the 360 ?

Oil change and fluid check at one year or 5000 miles is around $1000. The 15000 mile service for belts and other items is around $5000.

Most people continue to have the impression that Ferrari's are expensive to maintain. From my point of view, the more that think that, the better I like it.

Can't confirm those figures. Regular service should be accurate, but belt service should be cheaper.

Re: how expensive is it to maintain and "service" the 360 ?

How can a a oil change / fluid check cost $1000? Only because owners will actually pay that much is my only guess.

Mike, you have a warranty. The warranty says that your authorized dealer has to do the maintenance on your car during the warranty period. You can't do it yourself because they can void the warranty.

Any idea how much a Porsche oil change cost? They also do fluid, brake and belt checks. The total amount is close to $800.00.

BTW it is beyond my comprehension why anyone would do maintenance service on their car while it is still under warranty. Hell if you are going to pay over $100,000 for a car why in the world would you do your own maintenance?

    Good spoken

But one thing I have to add: the prices for regular service differ dramatically, depending on what dealer you ask.

It's the WORK you have to pay for that much nowadays, not the parts.

Re: how expensive is it to maintain and "service" the 360 ?

heh, i remember the days when i could do just about anything to the car myself.... the ECU has rendered me obsolete....

Re: how expensive is it to maintain and "service" the 360 ?

As I stated, the 20,000km service (in Germany) is roughly Euro 2,000. This high cost is due to the official Ferrari service guidelines which require the service guy to spend at least (I think) 8 hours with the car. That's at least what my dealer told me when I inquired about this topic.

It seems we finally found something we both can agree on.
Self maintenance on modern cars is not only stupid, it is also dangerous. Dealers not only have the right tools, electronic devices and experience, they also get weekly updates on maintenance regulations, changes and possible problems.
The only problem with dealers: you have to find a good one you can trust.

And dealers have license to earn the most money with their service work!

And yes, finding the right one is the hardest thing.

We agree more often than you think or want to know.

Regarding service, I still puzzle over people taking their cars to anyone other than the dealer even after warranty for the reasons you outline above. An expensive car requires not only a well trained mechanic but appropriate parts and tools.

There is an excellent outside machanic in the San Diego area who works only on Ferrari's. However, on three separate occasions, I have witnessed him referring the cars to the Ferrari dealership for the final repairs.

Can you ask for more? An expert knowing the cars and his own limits

I paid $250 for the annual maintenance (including oil & filter change) on my Carrera at my dealer. Oil change alone is $150. $800 seems a bit over the top...

$200 at a porsche and that's up from $120. A ripoff at that.

Maybe because the dealership is ripping you off to the tune of $1,000 to do a lousy oil change that even the biggest prima dona and/or idiot ought to be able to manage? I cannot for the life of me understand how anyone dumb enough to pay $1,000 for an oil change could possible afford to pay it. Perhaps celebrities...
