    Re: OFFICIAL: 911 GT2 RS (2017)

    Whoopsy:

The water is only in use if the ECU detects the intake temperature to be above a certain temperature. So it's actually not an "overboost".

I had asked AP specifically about how long the water tank will last. His answer was that on a hot day at the Ring it will last 3 laps. So if someone is running the car at a cooler place where the intake temperature doesn't get above the threshold, the water tank could last forever as it won't even be called into action.

A hot day at the Ring is what? 25 degrees and up?

So theoretically, say someone at a track day in say Silverstone in the summer, with ambient at 20 degrees or so, the water tank may not even be in use, or even if it is, it will likely last longer than a typical session time of 30 mins or so.

I hardly believe anything coming from Porsche staff anymore, be it the chief engineer or their favorite test driver Smiley

If I were to get one, I'd end up mounting two bottles under the hood of the GT2 RS (Mobil 1 + Volvic 1.5L) you never know when that annoying message will pop up on your dash and asks you to pull over or slow down Smiley

Once again, they will be relying on lap times to overshadow the so called consistent "700hp".

    http://www.evo.co.uk/porsche/911/19298/new-porsche-911-gt2-rs-graces-the-goodwood-festival-of-speed-with-690bhp

The numbers are pretty astonishing, with the GT2 RS producing a maximum power output of 690bhp and 553lb ft of torque from a 911 Turbo S derived 3.8-litre biturbo flat-six engine.

R&D team keeps on getting lazier and lazier, in the old days, it was the exterior design when someone wouldn't be able to tell the difference between a Carrera S vs Carrera 4S, but nowadays it's the whole package inside and out  Smiley

Less than 1000 cars will be made. Dealers are already getting calls from"clients" willing to pay EUR 100K above list price. So unless you are a 918 owner, forget about the GT2.  All that talk about 5k units is complete bullshit.

This is incorrect based on Christian's and my own information.

He needs to kill his ill-informed salesman. Most of the 918 Weissach cars have ordered the lift. But then again I have met someone who didn't ordered it because he couldn't justify paying 10k for the lift when he only paid like 4k on a GT3.

I think Black or Chalk are the only two ways to go on this one.

And the magnesium Weissach wheels are $19975 a set ($4,850Fr, $5,137.50Rr) from BBS. Unless they are TWS ones (can't tell) in which case it's more like $12-15K a set...

There's a dealer in Toronto that has seven pre-owned 2016 GT3RS cars in stock, most with around 1000 miles on them, and minimum price of $300K. Something tells me that most of these "exclusive" cars go to speculators anyway, and not people who truly appreciate the car. One dealer actually told me that a customer bought one with the understanding that he would sell it back to the dealership after a couple of months. Makes me appreciate the way Ford allocated their GTs.
