Back-firing TT?

Seems like this issue started about 2 weeks ago - when the car is cold from overnight, it has a few back-fires on initial start-up, then seems to be ok after it warms up - the temps did drop drastically in Seattle a couple weeks ago, but its back in the 50's -so, I'm not sure if it's related to the temps...

Anyone else have this problem? - btw - my car is going in for an oil change since I just clocked 3k miles - will tell dealer abt the back-fire as well...

Mine does it all the time even here in san diego when I start it in the morning and if I blip it, it backfires a couple of times and then stops. I think it is normal. It did that before and after the mods. I also noticed that it doesn't do it when I use high octane fuel, don't know if it is related.

Give time for the exhaust manifold to break in. Circa 3k miles for most sports cars?

I love the backfire sound.

On a side note, I heard MB AMG's new line will have "fake" backfiring programmed into it. How lame...

Mine did it a couple of times in the first 500 miles on a cold start-up. Now not anymore.

Do your cars smoke a little when they start. Mine has 2,000 miles on it and it did it from day one. A small amount of smoke at start up

mine is now close to 8500 miles and sometimes gives a quick white puff upon starting, it also did that from day one. My boxster also has been doing that for the last 5 years, I think it is normal as well.

I was up to 10,250 kilomters at the point I put it away for the winter...no smoke on start up for the last 4000 or so kilometers. In the beinning it did smoke occasionaly..white on start up. I was concerned initially, but everything else was absolutely fine. Hope this helps.

I wont worry about it then. Oil is fine and it runs "mighty fine"
