    Re: OFFICIAL: 911 GT2 RS (2017)

Of course the price the end consumer pays is hugely influenced by tax.  My point is it is more attractive for Porsche to sell into one country rather than another based on their actual revenue, and presumably affects decisions as to how many high-demand cars like GTs end up in which country.

I agree that over the years it has always appeared that while the US dollar prices were good they were supported by Porsche and currency investment gimmicks.  As a result it always seems that fewer high margin GT cars are allocated in the US market.

FYI sales tax is around 8% in Kansas. If you lease you pay that on the cost of the monthly lease and don’t worry about the sales tax on the total cost.  This makes leasing cheap cars very attractive

    Re: OFFICIAL: 911 GT2 RS (2017)

In US at least, there are too many variables regarding the sales tax, some states don't have it at all, others vary on location (in Chicago it is 10% while it drops to 7% in most suburbs).

Then there is the tax credit you get for the value of the car you trade in. (I'm not sure you can get tax credit on your trade in in Europe that would be deducted from VAT).

Not all states have a tax credit on trade in (which validates your point regarding variables).BTW, I don't believe sales tax on higher end cars dictates whether someone decides to buy the car. If you're looking for a car in that price range, you've already taken into account the sales tax.

BTW, I am curious how you were able to get a GT2RS allocation at MSRP from your dealer?Smiley I have a terrific relationship with my dealer (I have bought several Porsche's) and though I don't have an interest in the GT2RS  I am not sure I could get an allocation. I haven't tried because it is too much car for me. MY ownership would be a waste of money.

Probably the low list prices in the UK are a factor and affect allocations.. why would Porsche sell them cheap there when they can easily sell them for more elsewhere?

Didn't stop Porsche from selling them cheap in the USA where they have some of the lowest list price in the world..............

Simplest solution would be for Porsche to raise the list price the USA to match the rest of the world, kill off the market adjustment from the US dealer, weed out the flippers, the extra supply can go to somewhere else and fulfill worldwide demand also. Killing like 3 birds with one stone throw.

Yes!!!  US prices are too low, the premia charged just bring US nearer other markets before GST/VAT.  If you buy in CA, you almost pay sales/reg/ins at the 15% of GST in NZ, e.g. If you register in MT, you're better off.  And UK prices ain't too bad.

Also, does one drive the car 5k miles for free if you pay market overs in US?  You do at market prices in NZ.

    Re: OFFICIAL: 911 GT2 RS (2017)

So, the euro delivery of GT2RS are back on the table, and I have secured mine for late June early July delivery for the French Alps event! indecision

Even better, I had asked for euro delivery for my Turbo S Exclusive last minute, not only can I get that, which was suppose to be date specific, I wanted May 15th in the morning at Zuffenhausen, but got a surprise from PAG.

Either I can take that date, or if I am free, take an earlier date, which will be a group delivery for Turbo S Exclusive and coincide with another big event at the factory!

On and off customer over the years but nothing that would qualify for the allocation.

It probably helps that we both worked together as ordinary car salesmen in early 80s and remained friends since.

    Congrats!

Sounds like you going to have a lot of fun.

I can only wish I could do it but unfortunately have too many commitments already to fit in a trip like that.

    I'm jealous.....

Also just made another change to my GT2RS. Now I am doing gold wheels. Sort of matching to the Turbo S Exclusive.

It was black for a while to match the 911R.

Before that it was satin platinum to match the 918 and Cayenne.

think about the bright side, PTS with Weissach is going to be a rare animal in the wild Smiley...demand for such combo is huge and they completely closed out the shop for that Smiley

and to be honest, what you configured in December was really tight to get your car done in feb...Smiley

OK, in this case I admit they look great... IMO they wouldn't work on any other 911 though, but on the GT2RS that picture above is the best combo I've seen of the GT2RS so far

Nick, black exterior signals sedate, conservative, elegant and under the radar (no pun intended). The gold wheels are on the other side of the spectrum. Flashy, crass, look at me. The two conflict. Make up your mind.

I know about the exclusive series .The black does hide much of the car styling and even the wing is not so noticeable. Nick likes to be stealth but this will make his car much more noticeable. I honestly don't have a problem with the wheels but I found them to be incongruent with Nick's philosophy. Its just not who he is. That said, I am liking Nick's break out to be more flamboyant.indecision

    Re: OFFICIAL: 911 GT2 RS (2017)

Gold on black (in this case) looks really good. But I can not help but wonder if the gold on this picture has been enhanced. My recall of it from Goodwood was that the golden wheels was not that much gold. After all it is called White Gold.

Anyhow: it still will look really good even if it is a bit lesser goldish imho.
