nberry:The US policies are so restrictive, even designated driver education events are not covered if at a track. Insurance companies are not stupid enough to fall for that gimmick.
Watt, your an investment guy and savvy about money. Why would you risk $200,000 just to save $6500 especially if your able to afford the $6500 and it would buy you piece of mind in enjoying tracking your car?
Sky and Sun can each afford the 200, as above it's called self insurance, and is a good decision for them, just as Grant's decision suits his circumstance.
nberry:Even if I owned outright, I still would insure my home. The cost is minuscule compared to the value of the home.
Right, but you wouldn’t have to abide by the coverage and deductible requirements of the mortgage holder...

Their requirements are not unreasonable or onerous. But I do carry a large deductible.

DaveGordon:The pics of the blue one are bizarre - no two look the same colour! I guess it is Miami?
Miami is tough to capture with a camera. This one (the rear part in the shade) looks most accurate to me:

nberry:I wonder how many owners will track the GT2RS.
That's absolutely the only reason I'd buy one...

Saw this today the first of three which my local OPC is getting, I had the usual moan to the Sales manager who was taking a video of it for the new owner and he told me how they picked out the three lucky "winners" purely based on their spend with the OPC, seemingly the guy who will own this car asked them a few years ago how he could get a GT car and since then complied and bought seven cars from the dealer. Porsche are not interested in anoraks like me I've only had 944 lux, 911SC, 911 Carrera, 964 C2, 965 Turbo,993 turbo, Carrera GT, Ruf CTR, 997GT2, Cayenne,991 Turbo S but unfortunately it was over the last 30 years so I am a nobody.....
The car looked fantastic in Crayon (chalk) it is the colour I would get for sure.

It seems greyer (than the pic) in the flesh, looks sweet

Slight problem is that the new head of Porsche UK is from Porsche Canada, I know him and he is basically a pure numbers guy. His goal is to expand sales number. Brightest one among all their regional heads too, and young. He gets things done.
BUT, he do value loyalty to a certain extend. In Canada he had to deal with us 918 owners, but since we all have the VIP program, we just keep buying all the new cars and the numbers worked for him.

I'm way behind most of you in that regard, did not own many Porsches since I cruise through different brands too.
Bought new from my dealer just 2 Carrera S and 2 Turbos since 2001 ( last was 991TTS in 2014) but bugged him for GT2RS replacement since 2012 and he finally relented.
Have a GT Silver with Weissach coming in August/September.
