    Manny drives his cars but as much as I love his garage and the cars in it: Someone who lets Hermes do the interior on a Bugatti...well...I cannot really take serious as a car lover. I get it, Manny was poor and now he wants to enjoy life (his words, not mine) but I certainly have issues to grasp the pleasure of giving a Hermes interior to a car. Sorry. yes To each his own I guess but I rather drive the hell out of these wonderful cars he owns than worry about how they look, especially inside.

    And he can't drive his 935 anywhere but on a track and I am 99.99% sure he ISN'T a track guy. I believe he even skipped the driving course that came with the purchase too.

    Literally that 935 will be the lowest mileage one ever.

    This guy was on an episode in show in Netflix of Fastest Car, where 3 home built sleeper cars and a supercar drag race other, he brought the supercar for that episode. Seemed to me like a very nice guy, but not a really petrolhead, and definitely not a track guy. I don't see how he managed to get a 935 when you didn't...

    According to Porsche, impossible but I am pretty sure that in certain regions of this world, this should be (somehow) doable but without Porsche's assistance, it would be very difficult and probably expensive too (incl. bribes Smiley Smiley).

    in UAE, yes. we have converted cup cars with plate and driving legally in street. Smiley the modifications are done locally based on requirements identified during technical inspection. not complicated and certainly not painful to do.

    I actually only have one track car, the GT4 Clubsport.

    The original plan was if I had gotten the 935, I would have joined the Spa GT2 race, then next year I will bring it to Pikes Peak to do another run. And perhaps run some SRO GT2 races here in North America. 

    Walliser know my intentions for the car, we talk about it at the introduction at Laguna Seca. Somehow somewhere someone got overruled. Smiley

    "Collector" status for a car doesn't quite mean anything to me. And for race cars, it means even less. There are 300 copies of my GT4 ClubSport in the world, less now with race crashes but that certainly didn't prohibit me from tracking it at home and flying off a cliff at Pikes Peak with it last year. 

    Pretty sure the 935 will be a great showcase/advertising/publicity piece with my track's livery on it. We actually had planned fund raising events at our track with it too.

    This is just sad...these driving courses are really amazing. Smiley Smiley

     

    More so with the GT2RS CS/935. 

    The driving course was my suggestion to them, literally. At Wessiach last year I said great car, but it will be much more car than 99% of their clients can handle, as most of them can't even handle a Cup car and this is way faster, if they want their clients to live longer and buy more stuff, they should offer driving course together with car purchase. it was suppose to be a 'free' course but they ended up charging for it anyways.

    Talking GT2 RS and now seeing Nick bringing on whether one car can match the performance of another, here is an interesting video showing the difference of a GT3 racecar vs the GT2RS at NBR. The GT2 is quite a bit faster on the straights where a GT3 typically max out around 265 km/h, but the GT3 car wins on the cornering speed. I was a little surprised to see the GT2RS being so close Smiley

    The 935 was ~700k euro MSRP plus some options. 

    And haha no of course not. One is a 385HP race car, the other is a 700hp race car.

    In the Porsche race car hierarchy, the entry level is the GT4 ClubSport, then come the Cup car. Next would be the GT2RS/935 combo depending on the track, or it could be the GT3R. (All depends on straight lines, the GT2RS/935 will be much faster on the straights but the GT3R can corner harder. Top dog is RSR.

    So yeah, Weissach initially was quite adamant that the 935 was ONLY for Motorsport customers, as retail customers have their own limited edition cars. Guess PCNA overruled them mail

    How in the world did this guy gets one and not me I don't know. 

    Just a little rant.

    They're really good at pissing 'old customers' off, they won't feel the loss until you let go of their cars and replace them with F, L or M. Some dealers just don't care and look for newcomers that are willing to pay more without hesitation Smiley

    On my track, the fastest ever a GT4 CS has gone around is ~2'08"

    A .2 Cup car is another 5ish seconds faster.

    With our long straights, I would say the 935/GT2RS CS would be comfortably under 2 minutes a lap. 

    As a side note, a street GT2RS can do a lap just slightly behind the little GT4 CS. 09-10ish.

    This past summer I had 3 pros lapped my GT2RS, they all did 2'10s, hot day 34 degree Celsius. Perhaps a second or 2 can be had on a cooler day but really they maxed out the car already, and my car is at max downforce mode also. One of them is the one that set the 2'08" in my GT4 Clubsport.

    That's the difference between a street car and a race car, the fastest Porsche street car is still perhaps on par with the slowest of Porsche's race cars.

    Being only 3 sec behind a pro with a proper car is quite an achievement I'd say. On my first trackday with the GT3 RS a pro driver took the Panamera Turbo from his customer and was 1sec faster than me ..  which made me slightly depressed :)

    It always wise to be a bit cautious on your first track day event in a new car, to there is no shame in being a second slower than a pro driver, even if it wasn't his car.

    Come on, blame it on the track. It was raining, probably snowy in a couple corners... perfect conditions for the Panamera.

    To be honest though, agree with CGX... better safe than sorry. Now figure out what change in driving could make you faster.

    It's the classic 1/10 here 1/10 there and it all adds up. 16 corners on our track and and averaged out to be 0.2 a corner. 

    Panamera Turbo is not a low car on track, so no shame being slower. They took my Turbo S out one time too, and watching them pass other members in a pig is a sight to be seen Smiley

    I know exactly what you mean. Had my instructor drive the Turbo S with me on the passenger seat; that was no fun for the GT3 RSes. At the end of the day skills and steel balls are more important than the car I guess.
    What always amazed me was how the f**k they can drive a  race when it's raining.  So I asked a pro and he literally said: "Yeah, you can't see a whole lot out of the front window, but because I know the track, I'll look out of the side windows to understand where I am" indecision

    Over the years, I have learned that having an acute memory is just as vital to being a successful driver as other skills.

    yeah, knowing the track is worth a lot, however, knowing that my internal "I sh*t my pants" speedometer draws the line for me always helps as well. Smiley

    My ISMP speedometer has unfortunately decreased over the past couple of years, I guess I am getting old (and more responsible Smiley) but it keeps me accident free (for over 35 years now, knock on wood).
