Why do so many people keep calling it a "front trunk". I mean, the car only has one trunk, and everyone knows where it is. It's like saying "front windshield".

Your dealer's service department, via a computer hookup, can - very easily and quickly - change the duration for the key-button being pressed before the trunk latch will function. Your button apparently is set for too short a press time; simply ask to have it extended. So far as I know, the AMOUNT of pressure is not variable, only the DURATION for which the button needs to be pressed.
Good luck.

While this is not a Porsche-approved solution it will solve your problem. It is not inexpensive, but it will do the trick,--and give you a few more.

The smarTOP for a coupe. You can select 4 seconds to open the front. Will cut down on the surprises.

Thank you very much, ArthurY. I hope you are right because I will drive one hour tomorrow to change my key. I already wrote in another thread that "I hate that bloody key...In my house, each time something pushes against the key in my pocket, it opens the front panel or the rear window of my parked targa 4S. At each following push, the car is beeping...and each time my wife says ..."Your toy is crying" !!!

Hi ArthurY,
I went today to my official P-dealer (2 hours driving). What you suggested is not possible, so you owe me a drink next time I travel to LA.

Sorry Carlos, but it's your dealer who owes you a drink. His information was crap, Arthur's was correct.
There is a tech bulletin on this which your dealer obviously has no read.
How come you are 2 hours away from your dealer? You can cross Switzerland north to south in 2 hours.

I have never opened my trunk by mistake.I need to press mine for several seconds before the trunk opens.
Read your manual.
The trunk button is supposed to be pressed for about TWO seconds( that's enough time to never open it by mistake)
If your key does not work PER THE MANUAL ,I suggest you take it to the dealer and have it REPLACED, or have the receiving unit checked and adjusted.

TSB 4/06 ENU 9662 9 "Unintentional activation of cvomfort Functions via the vehicle key".
Don't know if it is the same TSB number for Europe.
The bulletin is about deactivating the windows comfort function and an extended delay for the lid to open (700ms instead of 470ms). These two measures have been set up in production end of February 2006. The windows function can be reactivated with the PIWIS system. However, the TSB does not mentioned whether the two measures can be set up for cars produced earlier, nor if the "lid-opening-delay" can be changed through PIWIS.
(TSB can be downloaded on renntech.org if you're a contributing member)

Thanks, I will phone my dealer tomorrow, no ... I have now a good reason to make a spin to my dealer...(there is a beautiful white 997 GT3 in the showroom...no no Carlos, no place in the garage...).
Fritz, if this tech bulletin really exists, I owe you a drink (cheaper than 500$ )

Hi rennteamers,
Bad news for europeans. My P-center tells me that the method of the US tech bulletin found by MattC to avoid the accidental opening of the trunk does not work, maybe because the US software might be different than the euro-software. So, I ordered the remote key.
My first question is : Please german rennteamers ask your regional PZ if this is true.
Second and much more important question : Now, who owes a drink to whom?
