    Re: 420 Dino

    From leftlanenews:

Ferrari exec says no Dino in the works

Ferrari today shot down rumors that it was readying a new model positioned below the $170,000 F430 coupe. Speaking at a press conference today at the Los Angeles auto show, General Manager Amedeo Felisa directly addressed recent rumors in the automotive press about a new Dino.

He said the company has absolutely no plans for a "cheap" Ferrari. Felisa made it clear the company would continue to compete in its current markets, with no plans for high-volume or modestly-priced sports cars.

    Re: 420 Dino

they will do the Dino, no doubt.a person saw in the factory the new working-line neat f430's line

    I can confirm that.

The name won't be Dino and Felisa is not lying because it will not be a cheap Ferrari.

The car will use a detuned version of the F430 V8 to probably 460, 470 hp, so that it is slightly more powerful than the S version of the future Maserati Coupe (which incidently will also bear a new name but I cannot reveal it).

The car will be 10k to 20k euros cheaper than the F430 and will be considered a GT car, basically the 599GTB's little sister if you want.

    Timeline:

Detroit: Intro of the Maserati Quattroporte Getrag auto box 6 speed. (0 to 62mph 0.2 sec slower and 5 kmh off the top speed but a much more refined and better car).

Geneva: F430 Stradale and the new Maseratis Coupe (with their new name).

Frankfurt: Ferrari GT. Front engined V8 GT car. The idea is to tempt Aston V8 buyers type. this car will be on the high side of 130k euros without option.
So definitely not a cheap Ferrari.

I can't wait to see it.

BTW, the new Maserati are stunning, don't expect blistering performance (think 997S level for the S version) but it's much bigger, a proper italian GT with striking looks

    Re: 420 Dino

    I can second Fanch

From the December 2006 issue of CAR, by Georg Kacher :

"The 'Dino' is expected to carry a 94,000 Poundsterling price tag. As the F430 replacement is set to move from 122,000 Poundsterling (the price now) to an estimated 140,000 Poundsterling base price in 2009, there'll soon be room for a new model to fill the vacuum. Ferrari can deny it all they like but the 'Dino' will make production."

So, the new mid-front engined V8 will be the new entry-level Ferrari, replacing the mid-engined V8 (which will go higher in price to keep up with the Gallardo's successsor, and distant them from the likes of Audi R8/Aston V8/911 Turbo). This new Ferrari will still cost more than the Audi R8/Aston V8/911 Turbo, so it will remain somewhat 'exclusive' and not 'cheap' (in Ferrari's language. IMHO the truth is, they simply want more sales as demand always exceeds their production figure and they can't ignore it anymore just to keep exclusivity)

The rumors about a smaller Ferrari version is still floating around, I just hope it doesn't look like a Cayman.

Yes, the "Dino" or whatever the below F430 model name witll be, seems to be a fact. Ferrari would be pretty stupid not to try to make some extra money with a high volume model for less money. Apparently the "Maserati strategy" didn't hit off too well, so Ferrari needs to do something about it.

    Re: 420 Dino

I have the latest issue of Quattroruote in Italy ( I am on holidays here for 3 months).
In the issue they talk about the new Dino being shown
first in Janurary 2008 in Detroit.
The engine will be quite large at 4.7 litres with an output
of 450hp. Price will be about around Euro 120,000
Here is the picture, sorry for small size. Looks like a small 599.

    Re: 420 Dino

I know it's still very early to ask, but am I right in guessing we'll also see a convertible in normal production (not limited runs like the 575's and 599's)

    Maybe even a hardtop?

    Re: 420 Dino

Will the QP look diff than the Current F1 model?
I'm about to buy a QP with a very good descount. Should I wait for the Auto version?

I believe that's the same engine used by the ALfa Romeo 8C. It's a test-bed for the new Ferrari, I guess..

Haha, I won't. As least Ferrari's not building SUVs. I'm fine with the new, fourth model in the lineup.

    Re: 420 Dino

I suspect they will make this new car at the Maser factory to ramp up capacity a bit. Is this true?

    Re: 420 Dino

why !why! everybody want to follow porsche footstep!?

    Re: 420 Dino

It's only a matter of time before Ferrari becomes the "Porsche of sports cars." When's the Ferrari SUV coming out?

    That will never happen.

    Re: 420 Dino

Exactly , Maserati will produce a SUV not Ferrari.

This is only a 4ruote personal interpretation of Dino, no spy-shot now are available.
This will be in the 130-140k range of price.
The new f430(f142 name of project) will be show on late 2008 and will be sell on start 2009.will have power not far from 600hp,new chassis, magnetic raide and almost same weight of f430.it will be a bomb.F142 challenge stradale will be more track oriented than in the past.
F430 CS on geneva will have 515hp,100kg less.
Time Fiorano:1.25,5(with new pirelli pzero corso evolutions as on 599 mounted).

    I WANT ONE!!!

Magnetic ride plus close to 600hp would be fantastic. So let's hope they get the design right...

    EDIT:
I guess for something close to 600hp (if true) they need something else than the current V8 which reaches its capacity limit at around 4.8 litres.

    Re: 420 Dino

New F430 price will be in the 200k range......a lot of hp and technology = a lot of euro....It will be not the "cheap" ferrari anymore

Interesting. I thought the QP was getting a ZF box, same as the one in the Audi S8, DB9, RR Sport etc.

I will be lucky enough to test the new Quattoporte auto box Friday the 19th of January where it will be introduced to the press in the french Alps.
I will try and get more info re the Coupe but don't expect much since it will introduced very shortly after in Geneva.
All I know is that it'll logically be the same 450 hp V8 as the Alfa 8C.

Re the Auto box, I will have to confirm, ZF indeed makes sense.

    Re: 420 Dino

    Again,
It will not be named Dino.
It will not be a "cheap" Ferrari but a different interpretation of a V8 Ferrari.
    A front engined GT.
Think of it as a baby 599.
It will be cheaper than a F430 but only by a margin.

    Re: 420 Dino

i thought 612 is the ferrari gt

so when this new coupe 2 plus 2 seater will be available for sale? how different it will be from the new maser coupe coming out?
