AUDI R8 Pricing for U.S.

My dealer called me that I have a 1:43 model of the R8 at the dealer to go pick it up.

He also said that he heard from a reliable source that U.S. price will be between $110k to $115k

What did you expect, Ron? The base price in Germany is rumored to be at 997 GT3 level or slightly below. I think I read something about 103000 Euro or so.

Yup, same in Oz. Audi has given dealer a guidance of around $260k, which is $9k more than the GT3.

Looks like they priced it between a 997 S and a TT. Sad but logical. Let's wait for performance reports, but the 911 GT3 looks like a better deal.

Yet another Porsche killer car goes down the drain.

I agree with you Ron, but the price you saw did it include options or base? Some Audis here have higher standard level of equipment than other countries. We have a very competative market here, but I think that with the world market pricing should be about the same everywhere. I do not think I will buy at the prices stated. I will have to drive it before making a decision. Since that is a year away for us, I won't worry too much for now.

Just saw it on Rodeo Drive Audi party or whatever, I love certain elements but i'm not sure it flows very nicely together. It would be nice fo 80k or 90k not 110.

Interesting tidbit- I saw an interior photo of it and it has the same pedals and sterring wheel as my GTI.Also the gauge cluster looks nearly identical.

Just got back from LA Auto Show (forgot to bring camera, so no pics, but have media kit with official pic CD) and Audi officials have yet to determine final specifications for the US market, so official pricing still to be determined. Nevertheless, pricing in the range of $110k-$150k was mentioned, depending on level of trim/options. It was my first look, touch and sit in car and I am very impressed. Volumes are said to be limited similar to the RS4 (I think that means 800 annually to the US?) as they want to keep it exclusive and not kill residual values. US deliveries not until fall 2007.

I have not seen any documentation stating that it handles better than an F430? Where is this information? Also, hanldes better in what regard...faster lap times?

Isn't this car around 3400lbs? The Ferrari is 3197. Now I would be impressed if it were able to pull faster lap times with 200lbs of ballast and down 83hp on the Ferrari.

My guess is still in the 90-100k USD price range, with an extra 10-20k if they choose to limit supply
