A guy on another forum mentionned 560 HP for the 997 Turbo, with 40 more as an option. 
He said he got this from a "reliable source"...
What do rennteam's reliable sources think of that?...

I have only two letters in mind: B & S.
BTW: the HP figure of the 997 Turbo isn't final yet, right now it is around 460-500 HP. Some people at Porsche seem to want to see a 4xx power figure with a 500 HP powerkit later on. This wouldn't be a clever decision if you ask me.
But 560 HP...wishful thinking...

Funny to see that power has become almost only a marketing issue...
A while ago, engineers were trying to get the most out of their engines. Now, they seem to be able to get any kind of power, and just have to de-tune the engines as indicated (=ordered) by the marketing guys...
Having a 997 Turbo with 560-600 HP would be great (talk about a jump from the 996TT!), but such a car would begin to scratch the CGT's territory. So the marketing guys most probably would forbid it anyway... For now.

I fully agree. Marketing department has a lot of saying.
There were strong rumors that Dr. Wiedeking wanted to see 500 HP in the 996 Turbo before it showed up in June 2000 with 420 HP. Apparently the marketing department recommended to go for much less power to leave "air" for future upgrades.
I know that currently there is a lot of pressure upon Porsche, especially from the US(!), to substantially raise the power figure of the future 997 Turbo. If we're lucky we get 500 HP with a 30-40 HP powerkit later on. If we're not so lucky, we end up with a 460 HP Turbo and a 500 HP powerkit. This is all I know right now, the 997 Turbo is still at least two years away, so there still is time for the right decisions.
