I want picks of Viper Green!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Re: My first weekend with the 997 GT3 RS

    congrats! great write-up! great car!

what i loved about your write-up is that even if english is obvously your second language, your love, excitement and sheer passion for the car really comes thru. that is utterly priceless.

having just picked up a new car myself recently, i know exactly what you mean. it is like the feeling of being a 7-yr old boy again waking up early on christmas morning to open up all your gifts.

    brilliant!!!

Re: My first weekend with the 997 GT3 RS

Congrats,i think you are a Ringrunner like me.My orange Rs
will appear in April, also from PC Borås.Your rollcage is black,i thought orange was standard on black and orange car.

Re: My first weekend with the 997 GT3 RS

wow great car...just curious as to what course of action you have decided to take with respect to not being able to drive it for an extended period of time... i guess the part i'm unclear on is the starting it or not... a thread here seemed to indicate it best to just keep the battery charged, tires over inflated, gas tank filled, exhaust plugged....any thoughts on fuel stabilizers?....thinking of winter also.

I am a Ringrunner. Looking forward to meeting you in April with your new RS.

Orange cage is standard, I opted for black (no cost option).

I will skip the fuel stabilizer and not bother with plugging the exhaust, otherwise I will follow the routine you describe. Hoping for a last drive before winter tomorrow!

Re: My first weekend with the 997 GT3 RS

WOW! Stunning car. I love hearing stories like this. Purchases by people who have been saving and lusting. . . always the best!

    Enjoy!

Re: My first weekend with the 997 GT3 RS

She's a beauty JFT! Black looks great and I like the black roll bar choice vs. orange.
But wow, a couple of weeks and then into hibernation for the winter. That will be tough.

You made a couple of comparisons and noted some impressions vs. "996" in your write up. Were you referring to the 996 GT3? If so are you able to contrast/compare the 997 RS with the 996 GT3 a bit more based your limited time with the RS? Of course we'll try and be patient and wait for the full shake down report next spring if you haven't spent enough time with the RS.

I was referring to the base 996, which in my view has more feelsome steering than the 997. The 997 GT3 RS gets that feel back! I am afraid I don't have enough time in the 996 GT3 to make any solid comparisons, but after having driven some 1,000 miles in the 997 RS I do believe the road test conslusions are valid - i.e. similar levels of performance but a more compliant ride and a better candidate for everyday use.

Re: My first weekend with the 997 GT3 RS

Is it not the case that the perception of the relative lack of steering feel in the 997S is likely to be caused by PASM? I certainly felt a certain dullness when I test drove a 997 C4S with PASM.

By contrast, the steering on my 997S which has -20mm sports suspension is razor-sharp in its responses and so precise I feel like I can turn with scalpel-like precision. Whilst driving along, I get an abundance of sensory feedback through the steering wheel as to the condition of the road surface and how well the front wheels are gripping the surface. IMHO with -20mm sports suspension, it just isn't an 'insulated' feel as in a 997S with PASM.
