PSE cutoff hack - help requested

HI. I can't find the thread that shows you how to keep the PSE ON ALL the time. Can someone please enlighten me. TIA.

Re: PSE cutoff hack - help requested

Either you pull the hose ( see pic ) or you pull the red plug.
There is also the possibility to add an extra switch inside of the car... ( I have that system)

Re: PSE cutoff hack - help requested

Just disconnect the orange electrical plug to the solenoid valve shown in the above picture..
No side effects, PSE on all the time.

Re: PSE cutoff hack - help requested

As I posted on an earlier thread, from a conversation this past week:

"...We also discussed the PSE "hack" (cut off switch) or the "un-plugging it" option. He, like a poster on a another thread noted, reached under the hood and disconnected it. He stated to me off the record that if there are ever any "electrical" issues, and Porsche finds an attempt at "interfering" with the electrical system, they have the option of not honoring the claim - HE HAS NEVER SEEN THIS HAPPEN, but said that if something goes wrong - plug it back in and you are done. He also said that leaving it unplugged will have no ill-effect on the engine, as it is meant to be loud (he said with a smile)"

Re: PSE cutoff hack - help requested

So, How di you like it? The PSE? Sound Great? I'm getting ready to get mine done. Did you have your's retrofitted, or did it come with it already?

Re: PSE cutoff hack - help requested

    Burbank -

Mine came with it, and it was anticlimactic when I first got the car, as I was sooo overwhelmed by everything else. Once I passed my break in, I learned to LOVE the sound of the PSE, and now - that I have it unplugged, it makes me smile and giggle like a 16 year year old every time I start the car. With the PSE always "on", the car sounds like it performs - like a true sports car. I am still pondering having a switch installed - I am dropping it off today to have an SR-7 radar detector (for my turkey day drive to Scottsdale) and IPOD (fm modulator hard wired) installed and MIGHT ask my install shop if they can handle the switch for me.

Re: PSE cutoff hack - help requested

The disadvantage of having a PSE switch installed is that you will have a cut-out between 30-50mph. The only way (AFAIK) to avoid this is to do one of the 2 hacks: disconnect red-brown electrical connection OR pull off vacuum hose and tape up the ends.

Disclaimer: no responsibility accepted for any consequences to anyone's car if they follow this statement.

Or you can install another switch inside the car to disconnect the solenoid valve and prevent it from opening.

I installed mine in the ashtray .
In one position everything works per factory, in the other, PSE is on all the time.

    Nice job jcs.

If you could trace the wire from the stock pse switch, then maybe you could jumper the cut-off interrupt. That would be nice for factory pse. I've had the orange/brown plug off for 20,000 miles now and don't have the need to quite it down but it would be the best of both worlds. Especially seeing that nobody would opt for the factory pse on w/ cut-off position selected.

Unfortunately you can't. The wires from the factory switch go to the cars computer.
I installed the switch into the 12 v power going to the solenoid valve (the wires are located behind the rear seat )

hey, jcs, I'm in nj too. Can you help me with the electric switch. I didn't install the switch because I didn't want to installer to mess with the interior. Currently, I'm just plugging and unplugging the tubes manually.
    Thanks!

Only the vaccuum tubes? Have you disconnected the "orange" electrical connection instead of the tubes? I haven't bit the bullet and done either yet but I am thinking about it.

Thinking about it?? It takes longer to decide what to eat for lunch than it does to pull the orange plug.

Ok, ok. I am going to get up from this chair as soon as I post and head out to the garage. I am going to disconnect the orange plug and take my P-car out for an errand. Wish me luck!

I would not unplug the vac. tubes. If it leaks, you may get a check engine light.
If you just unplug the electrical power to the solenoid, there are no problems.

Regarding the switch , remove the carpet trim behind the rear seats ( lift up in the middle of the car and take it out )
Then remove the metal plate protecting the electronics on the passenger side .
At the extreme rear left corner( looking to the rear ) you will see the two wires going out to the solenoid valve in the engine compartment .
One is red/purple and the other is light green/blue(ground )

You can cut either wire ( but I prefer to cut the power wire) and splice the switch into it.

Let me know if you have a problem , I'll be happy to help you .

    Thanks. I will try it.
I capped the end of the vacuum tube and leave the exhaust ends open. So there should be no vacuum leak.

    yes. this works for me...

connect the vacuum tube to the exhaust side tubes (PSE off)

disconnect the vacuum tube (cap it) and leave the exahust tubes open (PSE On)
