    Which color?

    Re: Picture

Mobile, now that you seem to have taken it on the track and road, do you wish you would've bought the ceramic brakes? Why did you decide not to get them. I ask because I will soon be making that decision too.

    Cheers in advance.

I would make the same decision: No PCCB for often being on the track.

PCCB might be great for the road. The even might be great for a few days per year on the track. They also gave a better response to the driver. But the have a huge disadvantage if you're planning to go often to the track. And that is simply the cost!

I talked to a lot of people. I even talked to Mr. Preuninger. Let me say it this way: They more experience the people has, the less the people are trying to convince you to take PCCB if you are often on the track.

As I stated before: The RS comes with (new???) yellow racing pads from Pagid. The rub down seems to be very low.
Now normally the problem with such racing pads is that they make a terrible noise, especially when they are cold. In addition they are not street legal. These don't! They are working very, very well. If you want to find a performance weakness of the car for the track then it is its tire. PCCB is not so important.

If money doesn't count and you want a better braking response and controlling: Take PCCB.

If money counts: Take no PCCB.

Hope this helps a little bit.

No, it's not me. I'm pretty sure it was Horst von Saurma. From a few friends I know that he was testing an orange 997 GT3 RS for the next Supertest in Sport Auto (15.11).

I tested the car on the Nürburgring Grand Prix. In the Pit Lane the sound was even better. (There are better acoustic circumstances).

But yes, the sound of the new GT3 is absolute fantastic.

It will be interesting to hear the exhaust after one or two years of tracking. Normally the sound gets much louder.

It's probably Horst, since it has the official S:GO 5001 plates, another video:

    Re: Picture

I came to the same conclusion re:PCCB. I didn't order them for that reason that you have stated, and for the fact that I am going this car for a long time to come. Sooner or later those PCCB disks would have to be replaced and I'm not looking forward to swollowing the cost. The standard GT3 RS brakes are good enough for me.

    Re: Picture

Finally - Porsche Motorsport has delivered the front roll cage. It has been painted in orange and will be installed together with the battery switch next week.

More pictures to come ... ;-)

    Re: Picture

    nice add-on Mobile!

    Re: Picture

I assume the front roll cage is an additional option? How to order and cost?

My car is schedule for March 2007 production.

    Re: Picture

So the RS doesn't have them?
    It coasts about 2500 euro?

    Re: Picture

Incredible photos! Thanks very much for sharing!

    Re: Picture

Mobile, did you had the chance to see the front part of the cage? If yes can you tell us if it's basically the same as found on the previous GT3 or if it's more GT3Cup "style"?

    Thanks,
    Max

The front roll cage is available from Porsche Motorsport. Go to your dealer and let him order that cage if you want one. Order in advance - Porsche Motorsport doesn't have very much of them. I have waited for 4 weeks now!

Yes, I saw the roll cage. It is definitely more Cup "style". It is also FIA-approved! (Like the first GT3-Model). When you see the cage - you know why. It has a double tube near the A-Pillar. It has a diagonal tube under the roof. And it has a tube at each side.

It will be mounted on Wednesday. I will take some pictures.

By the way - did I say that a GT3 is the most incredible car of the world ;-))

    Never had so much fun.

The best thing is: Each day the car is getting "older" - the more fun you have. It's not that kind of car / toy which is only interesting because it's new. It is so much more than a good looking car.

Thanks a lot Mobile, then I assume that this one it's really unsuitable for "road use"...not because of homologations issues (which I don't care) but only thinking about possible damages if I have an accident without wearing an helmet.

Apart that, I completely agree with you...the more you drive the GT3 the more you would like to drive it, especially on the track!! It's just fantastic...I already have 8000Km on mine and attended 8 trackdays! I'm completely in love...

    Cheers,
    Max
