ok it is a shame what is happening to them but this is ridiculous.
The Porsche mechanics who fixed #2 won the race, they deserve a nice bonus :)

But you know the Toyota clutch will last at least 2 launches next year, just like their turbo host clamp lasted more than 24hours this year

I saw an article where Porsche is actively looking at developing a car to compete in Formula E. This would seem to be synch with the launch of the Mission E and VW corporate objective of electric cars representing 25% of their sales totals by 2025.

From what I had just gathered, Walliser wants to go back next year.
But it all hinges on Toyota, whether they will give up or try again, cause if they give up then no one else races next year and the class will collapse.
Unless of course there is a 3rd party that jumps in and races next year.

I think Toyota will be back, at least until 2019.Even if there is someone new coming, they wont be around until 2020

I agree with you..Porsche has won the last 3 races. Not sure there is much more to be gained from running the current version of the 919.

Nothing more to be gained from 919 (not at the cost that it will take to make it remain competitive), but the real issue is that there is nothing in the 2020 rules that make it appetizing for Porsche. They don't want cost control at the expense of hybrid development/ advances, and unfortunately the 2020 rules don't allow for further hybrid development.
It's all very, very sad and the ACO is once again to blame.

I am afraid it is too late to save the LMP1 class. Truth is that I would love to have seen it develop, but the moment Audi pulled out, and was not replaced by Peugeot or someone else, the class seemed doomed.
Two factory teams is in my view 2 too little, and the cost have run crazy as well, so who should jump on this one ? The fact that Toyota have tried for so long without winning, I would imagine makes the field of candidates burning billions of $$$ close to non existing.
One thing which could have saved the class or at least extended it's life, would have been a Toyota victory in 2016 or 2017, but that is al history by now.
Not a very postive situation, but while this is happening, I will enjoy a good LMP2 and GTE pro field
