Here is my order for an April build and a June Delivery. I've had excellent help from Atomic80 and my sales consultant in coming up with this spec. If I've overlooked something or something's not right I'd appreciate you folk's comments. I'd like to make this right, since this will be my first Porsche and probably my last car before I cash in my chips for the old folks home.

    Re: Critique My Order

My God.... did you just cut and paste the whole order book?

Looks a fantastic spec - OK a couple of things I wouldn't personally have - but that's why we have so many options!

    Re: Critique My Order

awesome! Its nice to see somebody going "whole-hog" once in a while...

    Re: Critique My Order

A lot of fluff options for my tastes, cobalt is very electric blue imo, a little boy-racerish. You asked for a critique, that's about all I would change. Enjoy the car.

    Re: Critique My Order

Damn dude, what didn't you order LOL, seriously it sounds like a great car. The only things, and this is just me, I wouldn't get a cd changer in this age of the iPod and Cobalt is a little too flashy. But opinions are like a-holes, everybody has one and there's one for every seat.

    Re: Critique My Order

I've never felt the grey interior looked all that great and the deviated blue stitching might get lost with such a light color. I'm glad you got the brakes though. I may be in the minority but, I've got the PCCB's and actually think they're worth the money.

    Re: Critique My Order

The only thing missing from your "spectacular" order are those blue seatbelts! Too bad Porsche hasn't brought them back. Maybe get silver seatbelts instead? Might provide for a nice contrast and would go very well with your aluminum trim.

Actually, natural grey isn't that light. It looks more like charcoal or 98% black. I think deviated blue would look great with this combination.

    Re: Critique My Order

"Window Tint @ 35% on Side and Rear Windows"

I wouldn't do that because it gives a Porsche a bling / 'cheap' /touch. Tinted windows are looking sometimes tawdrily...

I've always liked Cobalt, but thought it needed a bright sunshiney environment to really look its best. Then I saw Dreamcar's 987 at the weekend on a typical English autumnal day ie not Sunny and it looked great in that light too. If I stick out the wait for my TT (getting itchy feet at the mo) it'll definitely be on my short list.

    Re: Critique My Order

Drop the CD Changer. Takes quiet some space in the trunk and sometimes overheats. The stock MP3 player in the middle consol is all you need. I have up to 13 Audio CDs compiled on a single MP3 CD in great quality.

    Re: Critique My Order

You want a critique? here is one: how about you tell me the MSRP out of the door and I will tell you exactly how much depreciation you'll get hit with at the same door....
I don't think you need more than sport chrono and short shifter, but that's me. Enjoy the car anyway, you'll love it regardless.

    Re: Critique My Order

Larry's going all out on his order...not sure if he plans to drop anything.

    Re: Critique My Order

i'd bag the 6 disc changer.. takes up to much room and the way things change so quickly with this stuff there are already better alternatives.

    Re: Critique My Order

I found the CD changer to be VERY useful on my 2225 mile long trip so I'd say keep it only if you like music and aren't very tech savvy when it comes to MP3 CD burning, etc.

    Re: Critique My Order

Larry this sounds like a spectacular car. I am sure Atomic80 will be jealous of some of your extras!

I already am. The way I figure it is that Larry's got to wait until next June before he finally gets his car while in the meantime I'm enjoying mine. We're friends so he gets to see my car all the time.

There's nothing rational about purchasing a Porsche Turbo,--so get what you want. I can't believe anyone here is WORRIED about resale value.

I went for it, and am glad I did. I'm always entertained by the number of people on these boards who, later, wind up adding stuff to their cars because they didn't order it as they should have up front.

    Dan

    Re: Critique My Order

Dan, that's agreed! I'm one of those folks that are trying to add a few things to my car that I wish I ordered from the factory. Much more expensive this way but it's a personal preference really. I think Larry should get what he really wants. That's the advantage he has over the rest of us early Turbo owners. He has a chance to see ALL the different options available and make the right choice for himself.

    Re: Critique My Order

I would drop the rear wiper. Looks out of place on a 911.
    And really has no use.

    Re: Critique My Order

Great looking spec, the car will be really sweet. There are so many options you can really tailor the car to your personal taste. The only option I am now questioning is the CD changer, price aside, I find the single CD playing MP3's so much better and useful and my changer is almost redundant. JMO of course.

I beg to differ...we get a lot of rain here in Seattle. I admit that it's useless having one at speed but when we're stopped at the light, it has its uses.

We have a lot of rain in Belgium and I had one on my 964 back in the 90's , it is utterly useless (for me).
I do not need to wipe my rear window for the few moments I am sitting at a traffic light. I really dislike that ugly thing in the back.
But if you feel you need it, no problem at all but I do not want it on my car.

    Re: Critique My Order

Looks great. The deviated stitching should make it look very exotic.

    Re: Critique My Order

I never said to be rational when buying a 997 TT, I know I wasn't when I ordered mine. The only things I added to my TT afterwards, were better pedals and an ECU tune. I am waiting for the exhaust now. None of the above is offered by porsche to order with the car. I agree that value holding is not a priority when someone buys a TT, but did you see that list? I just thought it was overkill, to each his own

    Re: Critique My Order

I think you forgot the leather covered brake calipers in deviating blue stitch.

    Re: Critique My Order

Larry, well done on the order, everything looks good except for a couple minor details.

I think the extended navi thing is useless for you, and the log book might be good for your wife to check on your driving for the day

Seriously, don't drop the wiper, it's very useful here in the Pacific NW and the one on my turbo is better than the one I had before on my 02 C4S.

I was told you could get the rear view mirror housing in leather also and it cost next to nothing, maybe you could add that also?

    Re: Critique My Order

Dang Larry - with the cost of those options, PAG could probably provide you with a CGT that they have laying around:)
Seriously - that's an awesome order - 2 Cobalt blue TT's in Seattle - sweet...

    Re: Critique My Order

Waaaay too many boring colours out there all shades of black and grey. Cobalt is a great colour - my next Pcar choice

    Re: Critique My Order

Larry wasn't going to get the extended nav module nor the electronic logbook but I think it was either me or our salesperson that convinced him that it would be easier to get anything "electronically" based from the factory because those would be difficult to add later. Hardly good reasoning there but hey, he chose to get it.

I saw the "cost" of the car and ..let's just say that it makes mine looks a bit "cheap." Just kidding...

I think I did tell Larry about the additional leather covered options such as the headliner, seatbelt trim, mirror trim, speaker trim, etc...but having TOO much is not necessarily a good thing.
