You had TechArt steering wheel installed by a local shop before your Porsche dealer officially delivered the car to you. I thought that a dealer does not let you take a car off the dealer's facility until you officially signes the paper. How was all this arrangement made ? And second question is that when changing original steering wheel to TechArt, what is going to happen to an airbag in steering wheel ? There will be no risk of airbag not functioning properly after the install ? Just question.

I am considering 997tt with tip-s. If that is the case, can you change the original steering wheel, which is equipped with "upshift" and "downshift" button on the steering wheel, to TechArt steering wheel ? Please advise. Thanks

jason, congrats from Belgium too. I see on the pic that you're still very young... so another congrat that you achieved to work so hard thet you can enjoy such a beauty at your age.

fantastic is the only way to describe the car....looks like, at last, your having a pretty good time even before your trip, which sounds like the perfect way to get the 2k deal quickly out of the way....obviously looking forward to your trip pix and report....congratulations enjoy your trip

I'm going to keep this report short because after close to 15 hours of driving covering about 950 miles, I'm pretty tired! I left Seattle at 3:45 am and made it down to the Bay Area earlier this afternoon. A friend was gracious enough to offer his "soft water" garage so I could wash my car before tomorrow's showing at Santana Row.
This car is amazing on all counts. Just the overall package makes the Turbo virtually second to none! I cannot imagine a car that's any more capable than this one. It's amazingly quick all the way up to 4200 rpms. I'm still breaking in the car up to 2000 miles so I'm varying the RPMs as much as I can while keeping her under 4200 rpms. Although I used the sport suspension setting a couple of times, I've resisted the urge to press the "sport" button until after she's been broken in. A good way to bring on the surprise. Yes, I've driven a fair number of other Turbos before but the differences between all those cars and this one is that it's mine. I can not believe how much one simple mod which happens to be the Techart steering wheel, could change the overall feel of the car. I highly encourage everyone looking for a little something extra to consider getting this "mod." While we're on the subject, I'll try to answer carbon's question. I'm not sure where you got the impression that the dealership was not allowed to take the cars off location prior to delivery. Most if not some dealerships have "vendors" who take care of various things such as stereo upgrades, V1 hardware, Escort SRX installs, tinting, etc. In my case, as part of the deal, I was able to arrange to have them install the SRX, V1 hardwire, tint film, Techart steering wheel, and clear bra all prior to taking delivery.
I did manage to stop a couple times to take some pictures. I'll post those when I get the chance to.

I passed next to Santana Row yesterday and wondered if you were there... I was tempted to stop by, introduce myself, and still try to convince you not to use spacers...
It was a great idea to drive down the coast back and forth and do the break in in a short time. You must be having a ball. Perhaps, when you have time, you could report how you drove and exercised the car, and overall driving impressions.
