Re: R34 Skyline GTR, 0-320km/h in around 30s

A very close friend of mine has a tuned R34 GTR, and believe me it is super quick and reliable! Ok so we have never driven them flat out in topspeed like on an autobahn, but he uses that car for track days all the time. His car is faster than a F430 on the track!

But it's also the same with Euro tuners working on Porsches. Some are excellent, some you'd avoid even if they offer their services for free.

I wonder in which category a 910 hp tuned 997 TT would fall ?

Heavy munitions category. It will kill anything in a 200-meter radius upon detonation.

Now imagine Henjie's Skyline with only 2.6 litres and nearly the same horsepower. Somebody obviously doesn't understand physics. That Skyline will leave its engine all over the road.

LoL - these kind of rolling bombs should be ruled by the War Weapons Control Act for sure I never get it why people would do such nonsense tuning
BTW it's interesting that the English version of the website says "performance-kit" while the German version describes the 910 hp engine as "race engine". Should tell you something about reliability. In the German website the max. HP for a Leistungskit (performance-kit) is 620 hp which sounds more reasonable to me.
Of course I'd tune the 910 hp version to 911 hp

It's not my Skyline (although I understand what you meant), and it's got a 2.7L engine. You're just assuming that it'll blow its engine without even knowing the kind of work that's been put into it, nor the quality of the components used. The owner certainly didn't have the car shipped to the US and Australia and have all the work put into it just to have an engine waiting to blow. A real car enthusiast he is, having an own shop with its own Dynojet, and owning performance cars from all spectrum, including a 997 Turbo.

I understand exactly the kind of modifications that go into a car (years ago, I was planning on picking up a 3000GT or a Supra and had much interest in Jap tuning). The thing is, regardless of whether it's the RB DETT26 engine (spelling?) or the Porsche 964 block, the car will not withstand heavy strain. Drag racing, sure, track racing also won't do it harm, unless we're talking very long sessions. However, go from Frankfurt to Munich in the middle of the night and I guarantee you, you won't even get to RC's house before the Germans call the NTSB because there apparently was an aircraft accident on the A8. 2,6 litres and 850 bhp don't mix, that's a fact. The reaon I'm pointing out the Japanese here, is because they are the ones to brag with these numbers. And even if you replace the engine and install the Z06 or the Viper block and reinforce it with everything you have, I'm still willing to bet that the car will fall apart, this time because of the drivetrain failing. There's a good reason the Veyron costs nearly 2 million Euros to produce.

Yes, nothing says "911" like a burnt clutch and the engine failing during a drag race . I'll take a stock 997TT over any of the tuned "monsters" any day. Might live longer .

Re: R34 Skyline GTR, 0-320km/h in around 30s

I remember a lot Supra videos which have over 700+hp blown up engine

    BTW Crash
