    997 turbo tidbit....

    Acording to Portuguese website AutoHoje Online, 997 will be out these summer.

    Turbo will have 3.8 litre engine and 450 bhp.

    Well, more and more mags and websites are saying that the new turbo will have 450 bhp so i think "everywhone" fear is becoming real true.

    No 5 for the Porsche Flagship model.

    Hmm, I think they're wrong. A 5 at the begging of the horse power figure is more likely.

    yeah they're all wrong...it will have at least 480hp

    I won't believe that with so many competition out there such as SL AMG, 360 successor (420 Monza ?), Gallardo, and the M5 & M6 Porsche would leave their Turbo customers with only 450hp.

    I can promise you that hte 997TT will have around 520hp based and later on with Powerkit around 550hp to 575hp.

    Who do you trust? Rennteam.com or them?
    The 997 Turbo comes out in around 2-3 years after 997 introduction and the power figure isn't final yet but rumors indicate a 5 at the beginning (with or without powerkit).
    Any car magazine (internet or not) stating a final power of 450 HP and a displacement of 3.8 around 3 years(!) before sales start must be a fortune teller, must be kidding or...just guessing.

    If the "new" turbo comes in 2-3 years from now (looong wait), then I wonder if they will do minor modifications to the current turbo (e.g. clear tail lights) or so, to make it look a little more modern.

    As far as I heard, a Turbo S will be offered in the last model year and this could be the next model year. This is not official yet! Design should stay the same.

    sweeeet there may be a chance YET for my family to buy a 996 turbo coupe

    since the "base" 996 turbo coupes for 2004 all were sold since they only made like 150~ this year (im sure you know , but instead of coupes they made a thousand or two turbo cabs -incidentally i HATE the turbo cab)

    If the Turbo S is going to look the same as the regular Turbo then what will make it any different besides the badge?

    i doubt they will design anything completely new

    i expect a carbon fiber variation of the current wing - a la 03-04 GT2 transition.

    perhaps a gt2 front standard? - the turbo is already full kit in terms of options, so ....

    i would expect engine upgrades up to 465~? (to gap between x50 turbo and GT2?) who knows
