    THE NEW CAR

    I've spent HOURS to understand the new car.
    It takes a lot of time until i recognized what it means.
    (Thanks to RC for his perfect description!)
    The new front is not a "styling gag" but finest race technology for a roadcar.
    It's not only a facelift, it's a complete new car!
    The bumper works like an F1-Frontwing to produce more downforce at the top of the car.
    This means you have more speed and a better handling
    (it's difficult to describe it in English but i do my best).
    So the new 420 can be compared with it's rival, the Gallardo.
    And this will be a very hard match...

    Your talent is quite astounding. Thank you so much for taking the time to make these drawings!

    I have a couple questions and would like to know your thoughts. The line you have drawn to signify cool air flow going into the engine is directly through the position where the side mirrors would be. Does the split design in the side mirror (from the other pic) help direct that flow?

    Also, you show how the air going into the front intake is directed, but what about the air going over the front of the car? I would think the shape of the hood would be altered from the 360 to further increase aerodynamic stability, but from your drawings, it doesn't look any different.

    It looks to my untrained eye as if the mirrors would be above the rear air intake. I also believe (without firm foundation) that the mirrors are far enough forward of the rear fenders to allow the slipstream to reform, albeit with some turbulence, in enough time to eliminate any blocking effect. This means that I expect the low-pressure zone directly aft of the mirror to dissipate as air travels over the length of the door.

    Farina, you are very talented. I surmise that you must be an industrial designer or a graphic artist to display such finely honed "board work". Thanks so much for your contributions to RennTeam's visual excitement.

    I wonder what has been done to the aerodynamics of the rear of the new car - have Ferrari adopted the approach of the Stradale, or taken further steps?

    Farina, your sketch is great. It sounds like you have hit the needle on the head as far as the actuall thing goes. Can't wait to see this car. Sorry guys haven't been paying much attention, but when is this car suppose to be here?

    If the rumours are true, the back of the car should have even more genes of the Enzo as the front. So I presume we will see those Enzo-style semidetached rear lights.
