My salesperson showed me a bulletin from Porsche notifying us that all cars built as of September will have the chrome tailpipes as standard. Stainless steel tailpipes are optional now and were standard on 997TTs built prior to the factory shutdown.

Thanks carbon and stubenhocker. According to the weather forecast, the rain should taper off by Thursday long enough for me to take delivery of the car. The flooding so far has only affected those living in the area outside the Seattle Metro area. Still, it's been fairly hairy with all the rain coming down! Good thing the Turbo has AWD!

Did you order the turbo word on the center console? that looks neat.
Interesting to note that during shipping the car has a Vmax of 35km/hr and they only remove that limit when they get to the dealership.
Another interestin note was that in the yellow car the computer pad displayed everything OK except the park assist showing not OK. I know the yellow one does not have that option but the wording could have been a little bit better.

The clear bra is a clear plastic thin film that's aftermarket installed on the front where a standard bar would be used. Mine is 3M and it's almost undetectable. The idea is stone chips and such are prevented by the plastic film taking the hits instead of your paint. After the film gets dinked up you can replace it. This is very similar to the factory "stone guards" on the rear flanks just in front of the rear wheel wells. Porsche has utilized these, at least the clear ones, since the 993.
While on the subject my 993 needs the stone guards replaced, anyone done this themselves? Technique & Cost?

I've never tried removing the clear bra film myself but I'd imagine that it would be a PITA to do so. I make it a point to get clear bra on all the cars that I own because it looks good from a visual standpoint and works very well. I didn't have my entire hood area covered. Just up to about a third of the hood. They covered the door edges, door pockets and the mirrors. It's virtually undetectable if done well. I had a chance to watch someone do it and it's a fascinating process watching them cut up the pieces and apply them using LOTS and LOTS of soapy water.

I didn't have the entire hood covered because as with all plastic materials whether it's clear, etc. there's a certain amount of rippling which IMHO looks really bad. A friend had his entire hood covered and you can see the rippling effect quite well. The cost would also be quite prohibitive too.

Thanks Jason. I just put on the clear bra on my 997S cab covering a 1/3rd of the hood and three days later a rock hit the top of the hood on the area w/o the bra
OH WELL, what can you do. I plan to put on the bra on my TT as soon as it arrives next month as well. This stuff is amazing.

I am in the same boat as I am waiting anxiously for my ML63 to arrive, it's been built already and on a train somewhere in the US heading to Canada, but the MB computer does not show where it is. Salesman told be to expect it either end of this month or early next month but the wait is a killer for sure.
