Still prefer the Carrera GT seat though...

That's a very nice seat!  Nice and low...

    DuckieRS:

Agree with most of the above.

Had the fixed in my 996.1, foldable in my 997.2 and LWB in the GT4 now. Still prefer the Carrera GT seat though...

Boris, you're about my size and height. How do you like the LWB compared to the foldables?

Re: Foldable bucket seats vs. LWB seats

Find them a bit loose at 'mon derrière'. Girlfriend urges me to eat more, but a small cushion for the lower back might help. Never had that complaint with the foldable on my multiple trips to UK (back and forth in one day)...

    Thanks Smiley

How are you held by the shoulders ?

Re: Foldable bucket seats vs. LWB seats

No problem in the shoulder area. Perfectly fine and 'snug'.

Am on the fence myself regarding seats. Porker will find it horrific, but might even have a comfort seat for the passenger side.

Joël : On this pic you can see how much space I have between my head and the headrest .

I drive with my head quite a fit forward .

Thanks Eric. However, you're not wearing a HANS. Once you wear a HANS, you have less space and flexibility. This is very different from only wearing a helmet.

If I recall correctly, you have recently purchased a HANS? Try to get the same photo while wearing a helmet LOL. Just kidding. But I'm interested in hearing your opinion after you have had some time wearing the HANS in the RS, after your next trackday maybe.

Do you find that you slide sideways in the seats while cornering hard?

Re: Foldable bucket seats vs. LWB seats

If you zoom into the pic of me in our Le Castellet thread, you can see my HANS touching the headrest. But I sit a bit higher, so more upright. It was like that the whole time, but I don't think it would be appreciably different in the other buckets.

If anyone has a source for a driver's side LWB for my existing car, please let me know. Want to swap it in and out for track with my sofa seat.

Buy the Recaro P1300 that Mike suggested.

I have  narrow hips ( size 31 in jeans )  . Ideally I would like the seat to be more tight , but I have not felt uncomfortable driving in it on track . With the harness tight to the maximum in hold in place . It would probably be better in the foldable one for that, but for my usage it does not bother me .

Re: Foldable bucket seats vs. LWB seats

I have done some research on the weight difference, here are my findings :

    • foldable Sport Bucket seat : 16.15 kg [Source]
    • LWB seat :  17.5 kg [Sport Auto 7/2017]

Re: Foldable bucket seats vs. LWB seats

If that's true, the name LWB is a bit out of place.

I concur. They are still "light" at 17.5 kg, however the name is misleading, because it makes you assume that the LWB seats are the lightest of the two, which isn't the case. It's a marketing trap.

Re: Foldable bucket seats vs. LWB seats

LWB is lighter when compared with the sofa seats.smiley

Re: Foldable bucket seats vs. LWB seats

I don't understand why they don't offer the CGT-seats on the side then, as a real lightweight option. They are brilliant and they are extremely light.

probably heavier due to the electric motor for adjusting seat height

I know, but that's not an obligation in EU as far as I know?

Wonderful seat, but not possible to drive to and from the track in these, not 3-point compatible.  Would also prefer to retain side airbag, but I guess in some sense, all dual track / road cars are compromised in some way.

Re: Foldable bucket seats vs. LWB seats

I see, well in that case, a LWB or FB is indeed your better choice.

Re: Foldable bucket seats vs. LWB seats

btw if you unplug an airbag seat, doesn't the ECU throw an error code which has to be removed by the dealer?

I believe that's right, but my dealer is < 2 miles away, so not a big deal for me.
