Whats mods takes to beat a Z06 ??

    Hi there,
What modifications needed for a 996TT to beat up a stock 06 Z06 ? or how many HPS needed for the 996TT to beat a Z06? that if the race is not from 0, its from rolling..
exhuast, headers, air intake & chip is enough ? or should change bigger turbos & intercoolers ?

Finally what is the best speed for the 996TT if the race is rolling , 30km ? 60km ? i might try to race my friend just wanted to know what is the best speed for the 996TT
Thanks , waiting for your posts

Re: Whats mods takes to beat a Z06 ??

Some say you need at least "real" 550 bhp to match a Z06 which means exhaust and ECU on K24's and I'd say "real" 590bhp to clearly beat one. We are talking hybrids by now or a Ruf 590 Nardo(real +600) to beat the crap out of that plastic matchbox.

Re: Whats mods takes to beat a Z06 ??

so when u have like 575hp or 580hp its enough to beat up the Z06

Re: Whats mods takes to beat a Z06 ??

Its not straight forward, it depends on who's 580bhp is it...

as I said if its RUF hp or Manthey hp or RS Tuning hp then yes.

Re: Whats mods takes to beat a Z06 ??

Thanks Kiko , the Z06 has good thing the big engine & the light weight

Re: Whats mods takes to beat a Z06 ??

ecu and exhaust u can beat the zo6 easily .. my friend has 996turbo tiptronic (ecu,exhaust).. he race with c6 z06 .. from 40-290km/h .. he beat him more than 3 cars ..

Re: Whats mods takes to beat a Z06 ??

Ruf 550, RS-Tuning 542 or the 996TT X50 with chip and exhaust will all do the trick. The Z06 is still onlx a car with 530 bhp, not a God.

Re: Whats mods takes to beat a Z06 ??

    Congrats Crash!!!

    Thank you, Kiko!

Re: Whats mods takes to beat a Z06 ??

But that would be cheating gents. Come on now, that is not fair to the Z06. I think the 996GT2 will do a good job against the Z06. I have seen stocks GT2's on the track beating the 997TT.

Re: Whats mods takes to beat a Z06 ??

    u r right Edz61 but still Z06 still 6 yrs newer then 996TT

Re: Whats mods takes to beat a Z06 ??

    and several hundred pounds lighter.

Lol do you know what happens if you change the exhaust and cats in the Z06 ?!

You get a car that not only beats your Ferrari but trounces it .

But you would need to super-/turbo-charge it to make it God-like.

I've decided to take my tuned baby (996TSCab with EVO stage 4) to the next level too-EVO GT700 upgrade next month with hybrid Garrett/EVO turbo's (Garrett turbo set in the K16 housing with faster spoolup with impeller in the K16 housing, but higher peak boost from the Garrett setup), plus Bosch/EVO fuel line upgrade, plus engine internal strengthening-good for 700+lb-ft peaking at <4,500rpm. I took Dock's (Atlanta) advice and will change to the X73 suspension with the motor mounts. And I'm still on the 997TT wait lists (to be modded in due course, as well).

And the 996TSCab's jealous sister (Noble M400) will get a power jump this winter too, with a turbo change from Garrett T28R (stock in the M400) to the T28RS, plus engine and tranny and suspension redo, probably a 150HP bump-an "M500." Spring in Rochester won't come too soon and winter will be much too long.

Point well taken, 996TT is old and should not be compared to the beast Z06

FVD is a wise choice if you are looking for resonably priced quality items. Go for it.

tanx, but do you think its real 575hp ?

Re: Whats mods takes to beat a Z06 ??

Congrats on the next upgrade. And I think you'll love the suspension!

Looking forward to hearing your impressions of the GT700 versus the Stage 4.

Re: Whats mods takes to beat a Z06 ??

    Oman911turbo
i advise you to go to 9FF .. i try 9ff and fvd .. 9ff is much better and faster .

Re: Whats mods takes to beat a Z06 ??

Send me a PM and I'll reply to them the best I can but I wouldn't like to make negative remarks in public.

Re: Whats mods takes to beat a Z06 ??

Al - Are you sending your car out to EVO for the upgrade, or are you having it dome locally?

Re: Whats mods takes to beat a Z06 ??

    Dock,

Thanks. I will have the upgrade done in December, locally. Of course with our winters up north that means I won't be able to test it until next spring. Stage 4 has been a blast. I would recommend it highly to you or anyone who wants to crank up the power on their 996TT without major mechanical changes. I have had NO engine/tranny issues in 8 months of spirited driving-nor any police stops. And only one formal complaint from my neighbors regarding the noise.

PM me if you want details on how I am arranging the local work. I'll also upgrade the Sachs clutch from level 2 to level 3, and change the intercooler from stock to the EVO club sport option. But still no external bling, just a few more CF pieces to round out the interior, courtesy of Porsche and Bumperplugs. Pics not until after the New Year.

    Al

Re: Whats mods takes to beat a Z06 ??

    Oman911Turbo,

I have no experience with either FVD product, so I could only comment based on public reputation. EVO is the major player here in the USA, but for the 996TT, there are common themes amongst tuners, i.e., the more robust the upgrade, the higher the risk of thermal and mechanical stresses overwhelming stock parts, and ECU re-mapping quality also influences driveability and risks.

Therefore, the bigger the upgrade, the more important the need for replacing stock parts, from diverter valves/intakes/headers/boost hoses to clutch to turbochargers to fuel systems and then on to the engine itself. Not to mention the suspension and brakes. The harder the car is driven on a regular basis also determines the importance of making mechanical mods. As RC has pointed out, mods. in Europe need to take into account the regularity of driving these cars faster than 150 mph, whereas in the USA, these speeds are sustained less commonly, but here hard acceleration up to 100mph is common. The former may stress the car relatively more thermally, whereas the latter may stress the car relatively more mechanically.

One of the more important issues is whom you would rely on for the mods., local mechanic/tuner versus shipping the car away with no or minimal local support for troubleshooting problems.
