    New Steering Wheel option CPA

    Hello all,
    Long time avid reader, 1st time poster. I am in the process of finalizing a C4S order for Sept production. I was all set on my long option list but as time goes by I keep finding new things, that's the problem with reading this forum
    Just came across new exclusive option as of Sept '06 CPA. It is a thicker version of the multi function steering wheel. I am ok with the normal multi one but feel it could be a touch meatier on the rim front.
    Anyway dealer tells me it is an extra Pounds428 on the top of the Pounds329 for the normal multi function wheel. Clearly way too expensive, the German configurator seems to agree that CPA is on the top of the cost of the normal wheel...
    Any of you highly informed fellows know any different/more about CPA?

    CPA rim will have the same feel and look as the current XPA. You are correct that you have to pay a lot of money for it. I am also thinking of changing my order to CPA on my Turbo. I think this will be the nicest looking wheel of them all and you can make it even more special by ordering option CDW (Y part also in leather)

    Thanks fellows, sounds like a nice potential option but got to draw the line somewhere, close to Pounds800 for a steering wheel is even by Porsche's standards pretty extreme
    I really like the multi function wheel praticality so I'll stick with that. The Y in leather or in Alu is certainly nice Euro 182.1...Must stop

    Correct, option CPA is not online yet.
    But think , how long are you going to drive your car ?
    How long are you going to turn that wheel ?
    I strongly advice either taking XPA or CPA , it is a lot of money but it is your direct link to the complete car. And it makes a big difference. Either XPA or CPA is a must have.
    I had ordered XPA but liked the look of the multi wheel better but could not get over the extremely thin rim. Now at least we can choose, granted at a crazy price.

    I hear your point but the price is just silly extra padding worth and extra 20-30% probably but not 130%...Then again in the big picture it is only 0.5% of the price...

    I like the thicker steering wheels, that techart one looks really nice. I dont like carbon fiber though, am I the only one? I didnt know about the thicker steering wheel til after my car was in production, ok so next time I will add that, they do get expensive!! but its where you grip this mean 100k machine!!
    Is the cost really an issue, I mean if you love it and want it?

    In a weird way I am starting to make sense of paying Pounds800 for a steering wheel, I guess in Porsche language that is 350 for having multifunction and 450 to get a thick rim...I see your points guys, this is the key element one uses to interact with the car...
    U guys are bad, I must stop reading this board, this is getting pricey
    BTW whatever happen to a nice standard steering wheel Porsche?
    Still would love to have a picture and see how thick it is rather than ordering it sight unseen..

    Wouldn't it be possible to have a look at the XPA wheel?
    Rim will be the same.
    And I am really not trying to get you to waste money but this thing is what you touch all the time when driving. I think it is simply a no brainer. I did it , so should you

    I ordered the thick steering wheel but I don't like the way it feels in my hands. If I had to do it again I would stick with the standard or get the TechArt

    I also ordered the XPA Thicker Steering Wheel for my C4S but I do not find it much different from the standard Carrera S sports steering wheel. I do not feel the extra cost was justified, especially in my part of the world where every option is subjected to 100% tax.

    If I were to do it again, I would get TechArt, provided they are willing to leave out the ugly TechArt logo.

    My BMW E46 M3 came with a beautiful thick steering wheel with audio/phone/cruise controls. It was really great to hold and did not cost a penny extra.

    Finally picked up my C4S last saturday. I have ordered CPA and was initially dissappointed it wasn't XPA + MFSW wheel. The rim is padded and is actually very nice. Makes it meatier but is nowhere like a BMW SW...
    Was it worth Pounds400 on teh top of the MFSW extra? That's a good question but I like it
    Let me if U guys want to see more pics of it...

    That's exactly how I had mine made. No Techart logo. You can get the same thing with the Multifunction steering wheel too. I wish I did that myself but I'm happy with the one I got.

    I paid about $1989 because it's the CF/leather version. The all-leather version is about $300 cheaper. Techart has some issues with the CF trim cracking which happpened to mine so I'd wait on getting that version until they've resolved that issue.
