I fantastic machine. It certainly took the "curve out of the curves". Also a great piece of camera work considering the ride. This will be one great track car.
However contrary to what others thought, I was disappointed in the sound. Instead of the wonderful high pitched whine, all I heard was a raspy muffled exhaust. I attribute that to the top being on and camera sound distortion.

The sound from inside the car with the top on seems to have less of the "whooooop,... whooooop,... etc." characteristic than the video CF posted some time ago from outside the car at a distance.
Porsche's own recordings are somewhat similar in the "On Track in Weissach" clips available in the CGT model information section of the web site.

Mike, I watched my video over and over again and I came to the conclusion that the sound is pretty accurate.
Don't forget that I was sitting inside the car with the roof tops attached. Pierre took that small movie from outside and of course the Carrera GT sounds almost like a Formula One car (with a deeper tone) from outside.
I guess you have to drive your CGT without the roof tops to get that gorgeous sound but believe me, even with the roof tops attached, the CGT sounds great.
If you guys are interested, I can re-compress the original video and offer a bigger output file (larger screen) to provide a more accurate video quality.

I am sure that you are exactly right about the sound, RC.
The formula-1-like "whoooop, ... whoooop, ..." going through the gears is clearly a sound most evident from a distance. I'm sure that one can hear this quality to some extent no matter whether the listener is inside, with or without the top, or outside. The observer's position only serves to emphasize one group of sounds over the other, with more bass tones the closer one is to the car (motor?).
Somewhere on the web, there is an in-garage (Leipzig?) video of a yellow CGT, sitting in a service bay, in which the motor is being revved to quite high UPM's. It also very clearly has the "whooop" sound. The camera seems to be positioned about 3-5 meters behind the car in this case, but since it is inside a building, some of the sound tones may be reinforced more than others.
At least that's my theory

Yes, I have the article right next to me. The Carrera GT beat out the Aston Martin DB9, the Bentley Continental GT, the Rolls-Royce Phantom, the Lamborghini Gallardo, the Ferrari Challenge Stradale and the Maybach 57 for the title of "Reader's Choice Dream Car of the Year, 2004".
