I'm sure you're right. But don't you also think that the "Williams" name would have looked better gracing a later equivalent of that wild-child mid-engined Renault 5 Turbo?
In the same way, the name is now being "wasted" on a middle-of-the-road BMW.
At least McLaren could claim to have believed they were getting involved in an exotic sporting supercar at the beginning of the SLR project.

yeah good point here I admit.
But Williams was partnered with Renault at the time, so not much choice for the brand I'm afraid. Still a nice car though.
As for the beemer, it would have been better if it was the CSL or even a completely new model like a supercar or something.

My thinking exactly. As it is, they've "cheapened" the name "Williams" just to help move 25 M3's, whose spec does not in any way suggest that the F1 team needed to be involved in developing the car.
Gauss: I don't think it is rediculous to point out a cheap, pointless marketing ploy for being what it is.

But it works, because people like me actually like the Boxster S spyder edition, although 6 hp increase is really a joke
