    Porsche Travel Umbrella

    Hated to start a new topic for this but didn't wan't to hijack anyone's thread either. If you guys have't seen this it's really very cool. I never knew Porsche made an umbrella that fits into the small storage hole on the passenger door sill. It's made to fit completely flush. Got mine last week,,,,,, really trick:

    I have one and its great ... except that I've never used it .... cause the car has only been driven in the rain once !

    Yes..I've got one too.It was a present. Had it in the boot until my mecanic told me there was a special space for it!

    Interesting..ebay has that umbrella but it costs MORE than what Suncoast charges.

    I just ordered the umbrella from Suncoast. You guys convinced me that I had to get this. It rains here in Seattle often.

    I got one when I was in Plano, TX for free! I spent several thousand on luggage and other stuff. Its very good, in fact, I used it and was very impressed at the quality!

    it does make very nice gift idea, i have one of them as well as a large golf size umbrella which i put next my driver side seat between the door that i use very often. i think porsche should also add another space on the driver side as well as having it on the passenger side.

    I've got one as well. I find it amusing that it's the first thing people notice in my car....The fist thing! rather than the interior, PCM display, or anything else. HAHA

    If I get the umbrella, then I won't have a small one floating around on the floor in the back. However, then the wife looses the space for her sunglasses, tissues, and other assorted stuff.

    Then buy from Suncoast. I have found many things cost more on Ebay once you add shipping, etc.

    But that would leave you having to use the umbrella to try to lever open the trunk lid and engine cover, 'cos that space on the driver's side is used for the hatch operation switches.

    I've got it - made my dealer throw it in as part of my purchase. It's nice and actually really works well. I'd say go for it.

    It came with my 986 purchase but not with my 997 but the old umbrella fits perfectly in the 997

    It costs Pounds45 in the UK through the Porsche Drivers Selection Online Shop. Even though it looks nice and is stored conveniently in your car, for a small umbrella, that's still an absolute rip off!

    I bought a wonderful Samsonite umbrella recently while I was in NY. Sadly the first time I used it in the UK, a sudden gust of wind bent it badly and damaged it permanently. Had to throw it away.

    Before that, I always bought Fulton umbrellas. Very well made and always last well. I am sticking to Fulton from now on - it's a brand I know I can trust.

    You guys in California, South Africa and Dubai must be laughing your heads off at us but, honestly, given how much and how often it rains here in London, having a reliable umbrella is a serious business!!

    Oh, believe me, I know what you're talking about here. I've been to London a fair number of times. Our weather in Seattle might not be as "wild" but we do get our share of the fun here too. We're just like you chaps over there!

    I bought mine in June, used it once in September and broke one of the many short wires attached to a spindle. I then found out the umbrella has a two year warranty. Needless to say I went to my dealer, exchanged it with no questions asked. Be careful in closing and packing the umbrella that you don't bend and snap those thin wires.

    Sounds like you need option SBW (stiffer brolly wires). Does it come in Exclusive colors as well?
