i'm sure you've watched helplessly as service stations have deteriorated into convenience? stores and worse. me to. last time i needed to top off the air in a car tire the handwritten sign said " out of order " for the Nth time , no [beep] , there was no filler valve....i said to myself no more....here was my solution in the for what it's worth dept.
I had a 60c.f. gas cylinder and valving....so got it re-certified ( you need to do this every 5 years )...and had it filled with nitrogen, 12 bucks....bought 50' of hose and quik disconnects at lowes, 40 bucks....and lastly a filling device from griot's garage, that has the capacity to both fill and bleed tires to a desired pressure, 50 bucks....
so now circle k and the like have definitely seen the last of my butt and 4 vehicles for this activity.....i bled the tires in the tt and my wifes sc430 to 10lbs.as to not lose the bead seal, filled them with nitrogen, then repeated the process. this used up the 60c.f. cylinder so i got it re-filled. and now have the perfect, for me, way of quickly and easily keeping expensive tires to the correct pressure
i'm not gonna miss the convenience store weasels and their customers a bit.
