    Importing a car from the US

    I am interested in purchasing a car in the US and importing it to Spain. Anyone famiiar with the formalties? What is required and what duties and taxes are subject?

    To Germany you have to pay 26 percent of taxes.
    you can bring it to amsterdam. There you only pay 7%
    and from EU to EU state its tax free

    best

    Actually, you pay more in Germany. 10% duty plus 16% tax on the entire amount - closer to 28% (27,6%). After 1/1/2006, this amount will increase to 31%. Amsterdam does sound interesting, though .

    Interesting, but do you need to register the car? I would be very interested to export a car from Japan if it were possible.

    I believe you would have to be a resident in order to register the car there.
