Another excellent test result of the 599.

Seems as if Ferrari really got it right with their latest models. Surely a great car and absolutely worth the 15 months waiting.

I agree, the car has confirmed the factory claims in several tests now. Pretty convincing performance

    Re: AutoZeitung tests 599GTB

    Very impressive

Amazing what today's latest tech can do for perf capabs of 4000lb daily-use GT cars ....will be interesting to see what 599's N-ring and HheimKK times are vs allegedly more perf-focused, less comfortable/daily-usable, much lighter sports/supercars........

    Re: AutoZeitung tests 599GTB

It's still a little big and heavy for my tastes, but what a performer! If I was looking for a GT instead of an overgrown go-kart I would love to own one.

Absolutely If those Quattroruoute track results should be close to the truth the 599GTB should deliver a positive surpirse on the NBR

Well, I certainly hope Quattroroute is better at testing Ferraris than it is with Porsches .

But my God! 11 seconds to 200 km/h was CGT/Enzo territory 3 years ago . I don't think those LP640s will be seeing anything except your tail lights.

That's true. But now think of the following Gary: take the new magnetic ride system as well as the quicker F1 from the F599, give it a V8 capable of something near to 550 hp, put it in an all new designed midengined model with a lot of aluminium and perhaps even some CF elements to keep the weight down...

And you get the '08 Corvette Z06 .

    Re: AutoZeitung tests 599GTB

Gary, I love your F430's specs. Would you happen to have some pics to share?

    Many thanks

ps sorry for highjacking the thread. The 599 is blisteringly fast. Almost too fast for the mere plebian

    Re: AutoZeitung tests 599GTB

Unfortunately, they did not do any handling tests

    Re: AutoZeitung tests 599GTB

...is this the same mag that clocked 0-160 KM/H in an LP640 @ 8.2??? can there be this big a discrepancy?

Seems so. There have been 3 tests of the LP640 in German car magazines yet. In each the LP640 was far from reaching factory claims (and the 599GTB performance). Strange indeed...

Strange ? Why ? The LP640 being about as powerful as the F599 is roughly 250kg heavier and since it is an AWD car it loses much more power in the transmission. No wonder the F599 is significantly faster.

I would dare to say the LP640 doesn't have the promised 640hp.

I would dare say that your daring may be well justified in this case .

    Re: AutoZeitung tests 599GTB

Rossi : It may well have those 640 horses on the flywheel but since it is an AWD car it has much higher transmission loss hence it has much less hp on the wheels than the F599.

That is beside the point. It's supposed to have 60 bhp more than the old one, but it's hardly any faster.

The power hike is marginal as is the improvement of the acceleration - as far as I know the original murcielago used to do 160kph in about 9 seconds in most of the tests.

That's exactly the point Crash. The LP640 is said to have 60hp more than the old Murciélago, but I really don't believe it.

Yes Audi are specialists ... in marketing.
