    Low speed acceleration is usually better with AWD in high-powered cars.

    The RWD Carrera GT is traction limited in 1st gear. Lots of tire smoke if one is not judicious with the throttle. Leaving the traction control engaged helps prolong tire life, but does nothing to eliminate the basic physics of the problem.

    100 to 200 kph times are a completely different conversation. Then it's more about horsepower-to-weight ratios, instead of launch efficiency. The Carrera GT is REALLY fast in this speed range.

    I am somewhat surprised by the braking measurements. Maybe the CGT's front tires need to be warmed up to temperature to show off its true braking potential. The act of launching the AWD 997TT would beneficially heat up its front tires a bit.

    There is a rumour (or has it already been confirmed since the CGT isn't produced anymore? ) that the 997 Turbo does the Weissach test track almost 1.5 seconds faster than the Carrera GT. To explain how this test track is: it is a pretty short track without the chance to drive at speeds over 200 kph. So yes, the 997 Turbo is a very quick performer in the 0-200 kph speed range, over that, the Carrera GT blows the 997 Turbo to pieces.

    RC- I would hope so, it only went out of production last year! But with a short wheelbase and awd, it isnt hard to imagine the Turbo outperforming the CGT on a shorter track. Incidentally, as a porsche nut, i was suprised you said money-no-object, youd take a lambo over a CGT!? Blasphemy!

    this is probabaly old news but a couple of days ago i read a june '06 motor trend article that timed a tt/tip at 0-60 in 3.2 seconds and 11.4 / 120 in the 1/4 mile. gps timing equipment was used, 7 satellites were aquired... thats quick

    cars 4x4 can do curves < 120 km/h much faster than RWD.

    Any one else notice that apparently the M6 could brake from 100-0 quicker than both the 997TT and CGT! (and everything else) - How could that be?

    Outlaw from what ive heard thats AF's car and belive it or not the engine was damaged running that crazy amount of boost (1.5 bar if u look closely) without modifying the engine internals!!

    That is a photoshop. Search 6speedonline for a thread by WhiteTT from around two years ago. He claimed to do 327 km/h and somebody then photochopped the pic just for the fun of it.
