Why is it so hard to visit Ferrari & Lamborghini factories?

I'm planning a trip to Italy and I shall be driving straight past Modena, Maranello and Bologna. I thought, as a car enthusiast, I would check whether it's possible to visit the factories of these two illustrious sportscar manufacturers.

Guess what? It's next to impossible to go unless you are a dealer or invited by a dealer to go (if you are a good customer etc).

    Thanks Ferrari and Lamborghini.

You shouldn't have told them that you'll visit their factories in your 997 S Let your wife arrange the factory visit and it will be O.K. - at least she mentioned in her first post that she likes the Gallardo Spider best

Re: Why is it so hard to visit Ferrari & Lamborghini factories?

but at lamborghini you can visit the museum and the shop , you just have to send them a mail

Re: Why is it so hard to visit Ferrari & Lamborghini factories?

You really don't need to be invited by a dealer. Just need to own a Ferrari. Makes sense in a way if you saw the way the tour is run only a few people at a time. Otherwise costs would be pretty extreme to open it up to all toursists. And the distraction/ safety in the factory buildings with larger groups or more people just isn't something they're set-up to handle. In some areas like the interior assembly you're literally right on top of the people working.......... You can however go to the Galleria at any time you like and it's worth going imo. My dealer got an application for me and sent it in and Ferrari Noth America approved the tour for me. Here's some pics from my trip there in July:

Re: Why is it so hard to visit Ferrari & Lamborghini factori

I didn't have time to go to the Ferrari factory while I was there. Had my invite and all, just didn't have enough time. Wanted to see the Lambo factory more eagerly! Will do the Ferrari factory next time.

Re: Why is it so hard to visit Ferrari & Lamborghini factori

In a few weeks(hope 2-3 weeks) i will be at Bolognese area and i am sure that i will visit Santa Agata.

Re: Why is it so hard to visit Ferrari & Lamborghini factori

The other way of getting into the Ferrai factory is to sell them something! I am scheduled to be in the factory in a couple of weeks. They are buying some of my company's software and I will make a special trip to 'supervise' the install.

Ferrai does do factory tours to busines partners, but it is not all that interesting as most parts of the factory are offlimit. I have never seen an italian company, including banks, that are as secretive as Ferrari. These people take security very seriously.

Re: Why is it so hard to visit Ferrari & Lamborghini factori

Forget Ferrari & Lamborghini and drop Pagani an email.

They are much nicer and more accomodating people.
