I want a new one too, but I am also concerned. I think the closer we get to the spring the more we will know. I don't drive my 911 too much during the winter months, so I am trying to hold off. That being said, if I got a great deal I might buy one now.

911 don't keep their values that well, just like regular cars. The facelift won't influnce the drop that much and anyway you can get a discount on 997 right now which you probably won't get when the new model comes out. Ah, the joys of capitalism, everything is priced in.

And I just missed this opportunity: I negotiated a 2005 911C2, 11k miles, sealgrey, Navigation down from $69900 to 65000, but still had some reservations (a leasing return with multiple drivers, too far away from home...). The car sold yesterday for $63k - too bad. I wish that 997 facelift would be known in the market so that more owners put their present model out for sale!
I have also learned that any 911 is at least $20k cheaper in the States than in Europe / Germany: another reason to buy over here and take it back home to good old Germany someday.

A word from the dealer
According to him (and I have no proof either way) that what we will get earliest next spring, but more likely Fall '07 or even Spring '08 if sales are strong, is a 997S with 375hp or just under the current X51 output. AWD cars will also get PTM. This is 997.5 and it may get other goodies like official iPod adaptors etc.
The face lift we have spy shots of is actually not 997.5 but early 998 mules being tested which we probably won't see before 2011 or 2012.
Sorry but I have no way of knowing if this is true or not, but it's worth throwing into the mix.

Absolutely fantastic car. I had an opportunity to get all of my money back so I seized the moment. I was able to enjoy the car for 2500 miles and can always get another if I regret the sale.

My dealer offered me a January build for my C4S. I declined and he now has me 1st in line for the refresh. Hopefully it will be sooner, spring '07, than later ,fall '07. PTM is what I am looking for, if there is any HP increase, that would be icing on the cake.

Very poor resale and the lack of competitive h.p., are two reasons Porsche may lose me as a customer.

Has your dealer told you that the refresh will be for MY08??

I guess the GT3/Turbo will also get the facelift.
