I just got the famous Michelin Pilot Sport PS2's installed, and had a highway trip to O Porto (Portugal) today to peel the stickers of the threads
They haven't been broken in yet but what I was able to test and noticed right away was:
- handling: very quick steering response and steering feedback
- grip: very stable on highspeed long bends (couldn't test the at limit grip on slower bends in the dry)
- ride: definately on the stiffer side (which is good in my case) and feels a bit more nervous since you notice more the expansion joints, bumps, etc on the highway
- road noise: I have no clue, I'm deaf to that stuff and could not remember to compare.
But since we get a lot of rain here in the winter and spring, I was really worried about perfromance in wet and specially standing water (aquaplanning) since I do a lot of high speed highway miles. On the way is was raining quite a bit and though I didn't really test the grip in wet since they weren't broken in but I was very surprised (I didn't expect it) how well it handled standing water. I took it up to 180-200km/h speed under rain and no problem, it evacuated the water to the side very efficiently
, maybe even better than the S-03's (my previous tires that I used for that reason precisely). On the way back it wasn't raining anymore and the road was only damp, and high speed perfromance was great and reassuring, took it up to 250km/h and no complaints.
I have no clue it it will maintain this perfromace as it wear or how long they last but overall I was really pleased, its like a "perfromance upgrade"
No wonder they were chocen as stock for the GT3 and GT2.
They were Euro 1400 the set and I use 225/40/18 front and 265/35/18 rear on my M030-C4, with pressures 34 PSI front and 40 PSI rear which is what works for me.
In conclusion, I humbly highly recommend them
