Anyone using the K-40 Calibre bluetooth detector

I am interested in hearing from anyone who is using this detector. How much was it, who installed it, and most importantly, how does it perform? Any comparisons to the Escort SRX? Thanks, in advance!

Re: Anyone using the K-40 Calibre bluetooth detector

I have it in my 997 and it is OK, not great. I like that it is well hidden. I had it back to the dealer several times before it worked properly. It seems the original units had some issues, but now it works.

Re: Anyone using the K-40 Calibre bluetooth detector

The valentine one is the best detector in my opinion to buy and if theres a chance a detector will save your A** the v1 is best for the job.

Here in the uk the v1 gives 300 meters warning to the gatsos..... and this shows the sensitivity of the unit, awesome....

Mine gives me 300 metres on Ka units on the highways. With the upgrade (3.821+) an acquaintance has, this range increases to over 500 metres. Can't beat that.

Crash, did the upgrade change or add any features in the Euro-mode besides the sensitivety change?

The Euro mode, when activated, narrows down the scanning range of the Ka band to the 34.3 area, where the Multanova and similar equipment operates. When asking Mike last year, he answered that there is actually a hardware upgrade when you send it in, but I'm not sure whether this has anything to do with the POP functionality...

Re: Anyone using the K-40 Calibre bluetooth detector

Looks like I misread your question a bit - the Euro mode has been the same since it came out with v3.821.

Ah OK, thanks. I heard some rumors that it incorporated the new 35,5GHz which is now used in Spain as well as the 34,4GHz. I didn't give it much credibility but this would be very important since it would be the only portable detector on the market that would have 34,3 narrow and 35,5 narrow and it would rock.

Oh yeah, I read about that thing at RD.net! There's of course the possibility of me being wrong, so you may want to shoot W8MM a PM, just to make sure. So, I'm guessing the Stinger DSI doesn't detect the 35,5 range?

Nope, only K band and narrow 34,3GHz Ka.

Fortunately all the radars in 35,5GHz are fixed radars, either roadside cabin or overhead gauntry, so with the GPS functionality of the DSI you can detect them anyway since their position is in the GPS database.

But since portable detector don't have GPS capabilites, it would be nice if one of them would pick up the 35,5GHz.
