    High-speed accelaration data of Gallardo

For those interested, I have attached some high-speed acceleration data for the Gallardo. I had the opportunity to drive the 520hp version with egear earlier today.

The data has not been compiled using GPS equipment. However, I made proper adjustments (stop watch based) and believe that the data is fairly reliable.

0-200: 13s (based on magazine tests)
    0-210: 14s
    0-220: 15s
    0-230: 16.5s
    0-240: 18
    0-250: 20
    0-260: 22
    0-270: 24.5
    0-280: 27
    0-290: 33

Thus, 200-290 (real kph) is around 20s. This compares to around 21-22s in case of the 997TTS. Obviously, the 997TT gains almost a second in the 0-200kph range.

In summary, the above data (in combination with earlier tests of the 997TT on rennteam.com) confirms that the Gallardo and the 997TT have a nearly identical high-speed performance

BTW: I liked the Gallardo a lot! Nice atmosphere (exterior and interior), aggressive sound, heavy but precise steering, fairly comfortable and yet well-defined suspension setup, solid brakes. A very nice package indeed

That's excellent! I really think the Gallardo has been unfairly treated as the underdog, based on magazine tests (which almost never go past 200 km/h).

Rossi, excellent point! Hopefully it will keep Ferrari on its toes.

very true rossi, and thats the main reason why i didnt purchased a brand new SE in germany two weeks ago, it was produced june 05, and i am feeling each month is better than the other in the gallardo

Re: High-speed accelaration data of Gallardo

The Gallardo is sooo tempting. My haert and mind have departed the 997 and moved into the G. I'm in the process of calculating the upgrade financials.

The irony is that the G seems to accomplish what both F and P failed to do. Lamborghini has finally turned the tables with this 520 bhp car.

Re: High-speed accelaration data of Gallardo

Today, (or at least now), I have a very short time to post, but I can't ressist doing it here...............I love the R8 concept, but, in the end, for some more euros I can go to my REAL desire.....the bull named "Gallardo"....

Not sure if I'll be that "irresponable", but, as I recenlty said, I'm 46, no children and fed up of being "resposable"

The Gallardo is maybe the sexiest (and effective) "daily usable" car in the market

I have a better idea. Have children and get a Gallardo. That way, you'll have your sons to continue the tradition of big-wave sailing and automotive irresponsibility .

Re: High-speed accelaration data of Gallardo

I like this topic so much.
Thanks to MKSGR so much for these valuable infos.

As i always say, Gallardo may be not agreesive untill 200kmh, but after that is really a BEAST.

Re: High-speed accelaration data of Gallardo

So one more question. Is it possible the M6 can pass Gallardo to 50-250kmh

    whether 04 or 06 G doesnt matter

Shame on me - I just discovered a calculation error

The correct numbers are (also more consistent with the 0-250kph test figures included in the recent sportscars magazine article):

0-200: 13.0s (based on magazine tests)
    0-210: 14.3s
    0-220: 15.8s
    0-230: 17.3s

    0-260: 24.5s
    0-270: 27.5s
    0-280: 32.0s

    Sorry again

Even below 200kph the car pulls very nicely. The acceleration is quite impressive - very continuous flow of power

Honestly, I think that up to 250kph the M6 should be similarly fast. However, above 250kph the Gallardo (based on the above test results) should gain on the M6. Based on the comparisons between 996TTS and M6 we did in the past I would expect a difference of around 5-8 seconds.

BTW: This should also be the rough delta between Gallardo and 996TTS.

    Extra price, Bling Factor, Anecdote:

Person A: What type of car do you drive?
    Byron: An Audi
    Person A: Cool...

    Versus

Person A: What type of Car do you drive?
    Byron: A Lamborghini

Or one could say "Audi" in both scenarios because technically the R8 is part Lambo and the G is part Audi. One of the benefits of platform and parts sharing.

Dmitri waiting for your pm. Btw i bought a e60 m5 i will post the photos soon on L-P. That m5 is very fast but i need time to understand car. i do only 60-70miles distance
    Later(in a few weeks) i will do a m5 vs Gallardo roll

That was definetely the right move, Dimitri!

Although I like the SE design-wise, I think it's somehow only a stopgap, as the current standard Gallardo has the same power and is also cheaper. So definetely the new model, if not even the facelift in 2008/2009 with 550hp is the way to go!

Yes Nick, I really hope so too. Seems as if there will be some tough competition ahead.

And if they will fail, well, we all have to move to Lamborghini then...

As always, your test data is very insightful and helpful

However, have found that these 0-xxx type of test data don't extrapolate well to, for ex., more daily 100-200KPH accel, where one is stuck behind a fast lane-hogging sloppy, inattentive driver on a busy urban fwy/AB; one sees a "hole" in traffic...and floors the throttle/shifts down to solve the "jigsaw puzzle".....scenarios where tq/gearing/turbo lag/traction/computer and/or human shift speeds all come together to determine which car inspires more confidence on dry/wet pavement for real-world passing maneuvers, as opposed to more abstract 0-xxx comparos, which most owners of these cars find fairly irrelevant, compared to 60-100/100-200/200-300 type of bursts, from a lethargic cruise in an initially inopportune gear.....
