Re: POLL: which daily use exotic: F430 or Gallardo

Kreso: New G engine FSI ?? Is it certain??
Ok audi give very good things to Lambo but i really dont want to see FSI logo on Lambos
I dont know but i dont like the sound of FSI engines. Especially 2.0T and 3.2FSI are like diesel sound when they stop at the lights....

I wish I could tell you I have a reliable source but I do not.

In my opinion, Ferrari is beginning to recognize that their competition is the Gallardo and not Porsche. The marketing philosophy and price point of Porsche really puts it in competition with the Corvette and other midprice sport cars. The Ferrari and Gallardo are priced about the same and target the same market.

As a result, it is inconceivable that Ferrari would introduce a model which will be sold for 5 years that has significantly less hp and performance parameters than the Gallardo. The five year window requires Ferrari to position its car competitively against the Gallardo for almost 5 years. That will not occur if they boost the hp of the 430 replacement in the low 500hp range.

In my view neither car should be used as a daily driver.

Totally disagree, I used to drive to work in my X5 and I hated it
Now that I've used the 430 and Gallardo Spyder I'm never going back to using a "normal" car each day

I'm still thinking about getting an LP640 for daily use - but I think that might be going too far

traxx , you would be amazed of how easy the new lp640 is to drive, specially with their latest edition of egear . the first thing that impressed me last week when i tried it is how smooth the car is.. go for it!

Re: POLL: which daily use exotic: F430 or Gallardo?

Dmitri is the LP640 "fast like hell" or "yes it is fast" ?

I want to see that car to be a good rival to CGT and SLR wheter winner or looser in not so important

Re: POLL: which daily use exotic: F430 or Gallardo?

caghan , its not fast as hell but more FAST LIKE HEEEEEELLLL!!!!!!! sick car! when the rpm reach 5500 and until 8500 rpm the force that pulls you back on your seat makes your spinnal cord hurt...unbelievable...

Re: POLL: which daily use exotic: F430 or Gallardo?

SICK!!!! I want one of these!!

Good expeirence for you man!! Congrats

Would argue Lambo isn't a serious sales competitor to F....F sells some 5K/yr units; L some <2K/yr units despite no artificial cap on produc vols....G has had more hp than 430/360 forever; gets glowing reviews in various mags, but, mysteriously, not enough guys seem to want to buy the supposedly great L....

In US, where 30% of global F and some ?60% of global L are sold, new 430/599 are sold at MSRP and one can trade-in every 5K mis for another new 430/599 w/$0 deprec cost and minimal mtce costs , whereas L deprecs like a P/MB and has a mere 2 yr warranty putting a "cliff" feature into its embarrassing resale value curve....

Net, net, in US, one can daily-drive a new 430/599 every 6-12mos for almost free, but a L would cost ?$50K+/yr in deprec&oper costs, esp for those who enjoy driving the latest-tech versions of any car and trade-in cars before any serious mtce/out-of-warranty costs....

This is only true for SOME customers (long time friends of a dealer).

One has to be close to the top of the Ponzi chain that is the Ferrari distribution system for this to work out reliably.

A new-to-Ferrari customer either has to wait for the car to be obsolete to get one at MSRP or pay substantially over MSRP for a current model. Either way, the potential for depreciation is proportional to how recent one's entry into the Ferrari food chain happens to be.

Only the "chosen" (worthy?) customers will fit your scenario.

Perhaps...or not really ....FoSF/Miller (Greenwich) are arguably US' (and prob world's) two most powerful F dealers, based upon both vols and repeat cust bases....FNA (unlike MBUSA/PCNA) is smarter re: building a repeat cust base of relatively young, likely recession/divorce-resistant&repeat buyers in regions like NYC/SF where the financial/tech crowd is a "small world" of close relationships and, most importantly, perenially regenerating w/new generations of young curmudgeons (recall the 50yo-ish Gates, Jobs, etc took MSFT, AAPL, etc public some 20+ yrs ago )...and shrewd, <30yo first-time F buyers simply go to a senior 30/40-something yo hedge fund/tech titan who's a major repeat F buyer to ask for an "intro" to their local F dealer/FNA....

Sure, the F US game is a Ponzi scheme...but even if the scheme unravels, I suspect the "real" repeat F buyers wouldn't really care....they would then just drive their new 599 (or whatever latest F) for 6-12 mos before trading in for next latest/greatest F....sort of like what they do w/their fast-depreciating, leased 65/997TT anyway.....reality is most serious repeat F buyers buy a fast-depreciating 55/65/997TT every yr or two anyway b/c even in SF/LA very few legitimate guys choose to daily commute via new F b/c of image/jealousy issues at office among colleagues/employees/investors/clients, etc....and obvious safety issues of F vs any comparable 65/997TT....

Re: POLL: which daily use exotic: F430 or Gallardo?

Enjoy because these days will be over at some point. Either F will produce more cars, or they will raise the price to the real price point (ie $200K+ for the F430, which is what the market can bear already). And like every scam, don't come crying when you will loose $100k on a Ferrari.

We will see then who still are true F lovers and not just posers.

Re: POLL: which daily use exotic: F430 or Gallardo

Thanks to all for their valuable feedback.

It seems that the Gallardo is my next target. I might go for the manual (not E-gear). I feel it's more involving. I'll try to use the G everyday.

The F430, according to the poll results, is less suitable that G.

I feel that a G/F is a more natural upgrade for me (rather than a TT/GT3).

Your discussions have been enlighting. Thanks again
