    After 3000Km with the GT3...

    ...it's time to do a brief write-up!

I'm sorry if I don't have too much time to describe how I feel about my new car and obviously (and most importantly) how it drives! Next week I'll move to London and I still have so many things to do...

Anyway, as some of you knows, the past weekend I was at the Nürburgring Nordschleife to finally test drive the GT3 in the best place where it can be done.

The big improvement of the 997 GT3, compared to the 996 GT3 Mk2 that I formerly owned, is, without any doubt, the chassis. The front, now, feels a lot more stable and heavier then the previous model, and the Pasm works really well combined with the stiffer chassis. On the Nordschleife I drove with the Pasm in the normal position and I think it's the best choice because the Sport mode it's really hard and make the car too nervous and umpredictable on bumpy roads. As they said in the presentation, it's good only in very flat racing tracks.

You can recognise that the soul of the engine it's still the same after the first bunch of kilometers. There is more power, and you can feel that, but the difference is almost the same that I found between the 996 GT3 Mk1 and Mk2, even if in this change we have 15 additionals Hp.

I found useless the Sport Button in the center console...the TC is still too invasive and the gain in term of torque and power is not really noticeable. In my opinion it would have been better to have the engine always in the "Sport" mode, without useless buttons.

I didn't try the TC because switch it off it's the first thing I do when I sit in the car!

P.s. I immediatly changed the Pilot Sport Cup that cames standard with the car with Bridgestone RE050A...the Michelin's are perfect for the summer time! I don't trail my car, I drive to the racing tracks and I want to be there save and safe if it rains!!

Hope that my description make sense!

Will post pictures later, now enjoy only this one I found on the net from the Ring!

Re: After 3000Km with the GT3...

    AWESOME.

Re: After 3000Km with the GT3...

Awesome! Thanks so much for relating your experience. A question for you - Are those seats in the photo the ones that come standard with the car or are they an option? Would you happen to know if they will be available in the US?

Re: After 3000Km with the GT3...

Thank, Max! Looking forward to more impressions when you have time

The seats on the pictures are rather an option or you get them when you order the car with the clubsport pack.

On this picture, it's the clubsport pack.

Re: After 3000Km with the GT3...

Read your impression of guide comes wants to buy "The Beast"..

Nordschleife and Gt3 are the perfect combination !!!

    Optimal report, thanks Doc..

Re: After 3000Km with the GT3...

Car looks stunning on that pic!

Re: After 3000Km with the GT3...

    ohh max!!

We need a much longer report, and please more and more pics !!!!

this car its now over me, i cant wait to see the first one on the streets !!

by the way, what is your point of view, regarding the engine sound, specially at mid-high revvs....does it sounds something similar as the mk2 you had???.....Watching from previous reportages and videos of the 997gt3, I think the suond is just much more better and more loud, what do you think??

Another question, the carrera gt seats just look so good that only for that i would go for that option, but how do they adjust to the back regarding the previous gt3 996 seats??, are they worth the 4.000euros???

thanks in advice , moreeee pics please !!!!!

Re: After 3000Km with the GT3...

Is this a notable difference in the wet?
I actually though about getting winter tyres for the rough weather...

Re: After 3000Km with the GT3...

i can't believe how much beauty is this gt3....

Re: After 3000Km with the GT3...

    Nice shots!!

Have you thought about getting the rims changed to black or a magnesium color? I think it would go really well with the white car.

P.S. I noticed that the RS has a different front spoiler lip which I am having my dealer look into. as the current one will inevitably require replacing it might be an attractive option. i think it improves airflow even better in the front...

Re: After 3000Km with the GT3...

TEE, first thing will be have the rims painted in matt black and the rollcage painted in white.

Forget to use the Cup Tyres in the wet...even in a flat track could be dangerous! With the Bridgestone it's a lot more stable and you avoid the risks of acquaplaning!

P.s. You have a very good eye...the front lip of the RS is sligthly different from ours, I've never noticed it before!

Re: After 3000Km with the GT3...

    A sublime poetry...

Max, in London you will dream it....

That should look great although I am not convinced about the effort for the cage.

P.S. check your mailbox as I sent you a PM

TEE, no PM in my mailbox...

Re: After 3000Km with the GT3...

Max and Tee: I never realised the front lip spoiler was slightly different for the GT3 and RS !!! Not sure why but if available I would swap the std for the RS - the front lip always will have to end up being replaced soon !!!

Re: After 3000Km with the GT3...

Max its too late for you to go to EBS...

    Have fun in London

Re: After 3000Km with the GT3...

    Max,

great car. Why didn't you opt fort the ceramic brakes? Obviously there are several GT3 owners that stick to the steel version - is it due to the excessive amount of tracktime you guys will spent in the car? I assume that those brakes are more important on the heavier and more powerful 997 Turbo.

    Geez,

you really must have had a hard time of anticipation!

You were referring to the small additional lip in the middle of the car? Surprisingly some testmules a few month ago were using the regular GT3 element.
