    Rubber floor mats?

I would like to add rubber floor mats to my Turbo. Does anyone know or have any suggestions where I could get some in the US?

    Re: Rubber floor mats?

I just answered my own question...ordered a set from WeatherTech for the 997 (with the Bose system). $54.95 for just the front pair.

Please keep us posted on the quality and fit, will you?

    Re: Rubber floor mats?

From past experiences WeatherTech made the best stuff, I actually bought a few trunk trays from them instead of taking the freebie factory one from my salesmans for some of my previous cars and trunks. And they fit perfectly. 4 years ago I bought a set of window defecters from them for my dad's x5, they look as good new as they did when I took them out of the shipping box.

Jason: rubber mats in the Turbo???!?!?!?!?!

    Re: Rubber floor mats?

I had couple of rubber mats from my other car and just started using it in my 997S even though they dont fit perfectly. I was sick and tired of all the junk on the carpert. It so much easier to clean the rubber mats. Wash it and through it back in. I will get these Weathertech mats. Thanks again Jason.

    Re: Rubber floor mats?

My secret to keeping the carpet clean was to use lots of scotchguard when it was new, MUCH easier to clean them later down the road. I am just the opposite, I hate seeing the junk on top of the rubber mat and I'd rather prefer the dirt to fall into the carpet and I don't see them. Plus I found that I prefer the feel on top of soft carpet than hard rubber, just personal preference.

I thought I was the strange one, I prefer carpet too, easier to vacuum than to remove and rinse the rubber mats. I had BMW gave me a set of rummber mats and I ended up leaving them in my garage.

Good idea I should scotchguard my mats too.

    Re: Rubber floor mats?

dude, key is to use LOTS of scotchguard, cover the damn thing end to end. for best results respray the carpet again when the first one dry

    Re: Rubber floor mats?

Haha....another fellow on here put a clear plastic mat over the carpet mat but I personally think that would make it a wee bit too slippery. I do plan to use the carpet mats from time to time but for most times, I'd much rather use the rubber mats. Believe it or not, I find that they offer better grip for those aggressive driving moments. I have a set of rubber mats in my Range Rover and they're awesome, I never have to even think about cleaning them.

It will look probably awkward especially with all the PDE you ordered...

    Re: Rubber floor mats?

The PDE? What? PDE to me means, "porsche driving experience."

Let's have the contest who's most anal?

I almost wanted to keep a pair of driving shoes in the car so my carpet will always be perfect.

Don't mind multi-scotchguard, I guess the question is how long I'll need to leave it to dry before the smell is gone. Now we don't want the scotchguard smell overpowering the new car smell do we.

Do the factory carpet mats just come right off, only held by velcro?

And $54 seems reasonable for the front set, Jason you know we'll be bugging you for photos..

Re: Let's have the contest who's most anal?

jason, i think you will be really happy with the weather-tech product. i've got several sets....in the for what it's worth dept. they clean up well in the dishwasher.

Re: Let's have the contest who's most anal?

You guys are going to never let me hear the end of it!

Dishwasher? You wash these in there?!?!

Re: Let's have the contest who's most anal?

works great. give it a try, although in your tt they may never get as dirty as in my everyday stuff.

    roadtrip you're my hero

    Rubber mats in the dishwasher?!

    Re: roadtrip you're my hero

He is either captain courageous or lives alone...who wants to wager..:-)

    Re: roadtrip you're my hero

you know Eric, the dishwasher is not only good for washing dishes. I used to wash my bowling balls in it, best machine in the house for de-oiling the ball. Just don't let the wife know what I did.

on a side note, I just got my philips bulb, gonna install them and see if we can get together so time this week to compare.

    creative use

The worst I have done is to rinse the rubber mats in our never used outdoor pool and the wife has been complaining since. It was a little embarrassing when I accidentally dropped a mat into the bottom of the pool and I was too lazy to fish it out. Feel bad for the pool maintenance guy.

Looking forward to seeing your bulbs, good to know the seller is pretty efficient in shipping them out. Don't care much about the blue tint but I'm be interested if they're really brighter.

    Bose and Mats

Please forgive the ignorance here but what has Bose Audio have to do with mats? I can probably make an educated (or not) guess or just wait until my shows up and get my answer.

    Re: Bose and Mats

If I had to venture a guess here, Tony, I'd think that maybe the Bose speakers causes the lower section to be a bit wider/narrower? Just a guess...

    Nice avatar!

    Re: Bose and Mats

Jason, I'm sure you are right. The drivers side mats appear to be a slightly diferent shape (bose vs. non) but can't tell on the passenger side.

Avatar is on loan for another week or so and then you can have it back. Thanks.

    Re: Bose and Mats

No No...I'm flattered that you liked my picture enough to use it as an avatar. That's what I meant.. You can use it as long as you want!

    Re: Bose and Mats

Jason, I was just kidding about giving it back, I'm not sure that I can top your photo skills besides I kinda of like the current one I'm using.

    Re: Bose and Mats

    atomic80,
I have set of Lloyd rubber mats. They are cut to the exact size, so they fit perfectly. You can find them in the many websites.
