Car magazine has some interesting speculation

regarding changes involving VW (piech family) and Porsche. Though not new they are convinced that Wendeking will take over VW. Once that is done, he will have to sell off Lamborghini to protect Porsche. As it stands now, Porsche owns 25% of VW and it is becoming increasingly more difficult for the two companies to separate themselves. It would be a shame if they sold off Lambo since they are really doing some great things with the brand.

Also, according to the magazine, Ferrari is thinking of increasing production from 5000 to 7000 cars worldwide and most of the increase going to immerging markets in China and Russia.

Re: Car magazine has some interesting speculation

i would be really disapointed if audi sells lambo , pre audi lambo's were crap.
wendeking must sell audi to protect porsche, not lambo..

Re: Car magazine has some interesting speculation

I don't really think that is true, but remember: there shortly was the rumour that Audi wants to sell Lamborghini which was denied immediatly by Audi. But in every rumour there's a grain of truth I guess...

Re: Car magazine has some interesting speculation

In May Dr.Winterkorn spoke about Lamborghini's plan for next 4(!!) years. So, Car mag article is probably just another blah,blah... Any you know who was seating in new Gallardo Nera in Paris? Herr Piech himself...

And Herr Kalbfell never thought he would be without job in September.

    Things can change rather quickly...

Re: Car magazine has some interesting speculation

lets just hope its just a rumor..i think lambo has a very bright future under audi

Ferrari should produce at least 20,000 cars a year instead of keeping their prices artificially high like the diamond cartels. That is what their customers want instead of waiting 1+ years and paying unreasonably high prices. Instead Ferrari chooses to ignore what their customers and enthusiasts greedily for their bottom line.

Then Ferrari becomes Porsche, doesn't it? I know I won't be happy with Ferrari selling 20,000 cars a year including 10,000 Ferrari 4-door SUVs and 3,000-5,000 entry-level V6 'supercars'.

More sales without losing exclusivity is the most difficult thing to do in this market, and I think Ferrari is doing it well.

You like waiting over a year for a car and paying an artifically high price? I don't think 20,000 cars a year is even close to Porsche's annual production so Ferrari can still remain exclusive. Also I think at 20,000 cars a year Ferrari will be forced to make better decisions on styling (witness the vulgar, F430 Spyder, EVO magazine's words, not mine). Right now there's so few cars and high enough demand (1+ year wait list) that they can make a car look weird and people will still snap it up. It doesn't matter what a Ferrari looks like, people will buy it because it's exclusive. This is all due the artifical market conditions Ferrari has created. This isn't good for the consumer. If they produce more cars the demand will decrease since more people will be able to get their hands on a car. This in turn will force Ferrari to produce better [looking] cars. Right now they're like gods, they can do whatever the hell they please with no accountability. And right now what they're doing is good for them financially while they're spitting in their customers' faces with inferior looking new cars. Ferrari will one day pay for their greediness. Witness new less expensive "supercars" on the horizon such as the R8, '08 Lotus Esprit, redesigned NSX, etc...As such "supercars" that cost less than a Ferrari become more available, people will buy these instead of waiting a year. This trend will be the downfall of Ferrari. The only hope they have is to come out with a new $100k "entry level" and/or increase production.
