noone1:Man, Bluelines taunted you so much about having the same steering wheel that you went out and bought a new one. Classic.
I always wanted this one but since I didn't order and spec a new car, it was impossible. Also, it was not available for some time as a retrofit item. This is basically the same steering wheel as before, just with a buckskin grip. No big deal.

RC:Grip is amazing...as long as I do not use hand cream. I always wondered why the Alcantara steering wheel in my 991 GTS Cab has "degraded" but now I know...my wife...hand cream.

We are actually sleeping exceptionally well The twins go to bed at 8pm, wake up around 2-3am for one round of parallel feeding, then sleep until the morning. Did we have baby photos in the Audi thread yet? Ok, here we go

How about sun screen? Even worse... Today, my wife played a tennis tournament and sun screen plus sweat equal in a big mess in the car. Even my wife and daughter just wear skirts, the leather seats are full with sun screen. Horrible.

You lucky bastard... Our first kid woke us up every two hours (actually me because I had to feed her ) and the second kid slept longer but he didn't want to go to sleep, so I had to spend a lot of time with him before he went to sleep.

Found out more about the reason why the R8 weights more than the Huracan: Apparently this isn't only about more dampening material, the B&O HiFi system or the leather. The Huracan apparently doesn't have the water-cooled front axle differential of the R8. At least this is what the Lamborghini tech told me at my dealership...something I cannot really believe. Why would the Huracan not have this?

RC,
Sonax alcantara cleaner is the best one I've used. Made in Germany, so should be easy to source.
That said, alcantara just won't wear as nicely as leather regardless. I have sweaty hands unfortunately, so an alcantara wheel is not something I should ever order.

Thanks, good to know for my GTS Cab. What about the buckskin steering wheel in my R8? Any idea how to clean it? Asked my mechanic but he gave me a contact which hasn't responded yet.

Specifically you want the Sonax "Upholstery & Alcantara Cleaner" as there is one other one that I think is too strong.
Hmm, for natural buckskin I am honestly not too sure, probably someone who cleans shoes made of that material would know. Probably a product made for real leather / suede .

I think the pro drivers in GT class just have their mechanics put a new one on every race....

Yesterday, I had the chance to play with the various driving/ESP modes on a closed road (construction). Was pretty interesting because it was a wide area where I could reach some nice speeds without any risk.
Long story short: I always loved Performance mode DRY but always hesitated to use it on public roads because the ESP is set to "sport mode" and can be very tricky at times.
Just out of curiosity, I also turned off the ESP completely (longer press on the ESP button) to see how the car reacts and it wasn't pretty I have to admit, despite the warm tires (aprox. 45°C). Very difficult to "catch" the car because the loss of control comes very sudden and very aggressively (typical mid engined car behavior).
Well, while driving with Performance mode DRY and ESP completely turned off, I pressed the ESP button and expected the ESP to fall back into the previous (Performance mode DRY standards setup) "sport mode".
What happened however was that I was suddenly driving in Performance mode DRY with the ESP completely turned ON (standard mode). This changes the whole driving experience on public roads: Huge safety improvement plus the amazing setup from the Performance mode DRY (everything set to "sport", dynamic steering without a variable setup, gearbox shifting up as aggressive as possible with some serious "kicks", throttle response highly sensitive, etc.).
So call me stupid but I do not understand why Audi doesn't offer a Performance mode DRY with ESP turned on completely? It would make more sense to press the ESP button if people want to drive in ESP "sport mode".
I didn't know that it is possible to switch ESP back to standard mode with Performance mode DRY, there is no documentation about it and I always assumed that this is a fixed setup.
Performance mode DRY with ESP turned on (standard mode) is a game changer in my opinion. So much more fun but with a lower risk, especially when driving on public roads.

That's some lovely pictures Christian!
What is your experience with driving with shoes like these? I sometimes wear protective "steel noses" shoes when I have to visit the production facilities of our company, and I always make sure to have "normal" shoes with me as well, as I hate the feeling of driving with these big lumps. Doesn't it give you any problems?
