what are the wheel offsets for 997 C4S 19 wheels?

    Hi Guys,

I'm thinking about getting a set of used C4S 19" wheels?
Do they have the same offset as C2S (57mm/67mm)?
    Thanks

Re: what are the wheel offsets for 997 C4S 19 wheels?

Generally yes. They also make use of the 17mm spacer.

The C4 wheels have a different offset than the C2. All of the Porsche 19 inch wheels for the C4 except for the Carrera Sport are et 57mm (F) and et 51mm (R). The Carerra Sport are et 55mm (F) and et 67mm (R) - with these you have to use a 17mm spacer on the rear.

Re: what are the wheel offsets for 997 C4S 19 wheels?

Does that mean if I buy used Carrerra Sport Design wheels (51 offset rear) off a 2006 C4S that I need to remove the spacer from the rear wheels and get shorter lug nuts? In other words the factory Carrerra Sports on a 2007 C4s will have a 17 mm spacer already installed at the factory.

That's my understanding - maybe someone with that setup will respond.

I re-read these posts and I can see where there is some confusion. I'm assuming you're looking at the Sport Design (15 spoke) wheels and not the Sport (10 spoke). The 51mm offset is for wheels designed for the C4. The 67mm offset is for C2 wheels. The Sport (10 spokes) only comes with a rear offset of 67mm so to use it on a C4 you need to use the 17mm spacer. The Sport is the only Porsche 19" wheel that needs the 17mm spacer to use on a C4. The Sport Design (15 spokes) comes in a C2 and a C4 version for the rears. The C4 51mm offset you're looking at does not need or use a 17mm spacer so there won't be anything to take off. Looks like you are interested in the C4 version (offset 51mm) to mount on a C2. If this is the case then I think they will extend too far from the fender wall, 15mm or more.

Re: what are the wheel offsets for 997 C4S 19 wheels?

I have 997 C4S with two sets of option 403 Carrera S Wheels ("standard 19" wheelson S"). The one set came with the car and had normal summer high performance tires. The second set I bought off E-Bay (cheap compared to buying from Porsche or putting OEM alloy rims) I had winter 19" sports tires (from Tire Rack)put on these rims by my Porsche dealer. These rims I do not think need any spacers. PS they work great.

They work on a C4 but I think the Colonel wants to use C4 wheels on a C2.

Re: what are the wheel offsets for 997 C4S 19 wheels?

I am buying (built already and in shipping) a 2007 C4S with SPORTS from the factory. From what I read that means that it will also come with 17 mm spacers. In order to use a set of used 2006 C4S SPORT DESIGNS (with winter tires) on this car, I will have to remove the spacers. Is this correct. Is it a big deal to remove the spacers. How much are the shorter wheel studs. Thanks for the help.

Re: what are the wheel offsets for 997 C4S 19 wheels?

yes, I want to know if I can put standard 18" C4 wheels on C2S for track use.

Now you confused me again (easily done) - your very first post says 19" - now you say 18" which is it? Or are there two different questions you're asking?

Yes to removing the 17mm spacers (I'm assuming that the Sport Designs have a 51mm offset). They should not be difficult to remove - just like changing the tire. You'll have to buy 10 stock lug bolts since the 17mm Porsche spacer uses lug nuts. Your P-car dealer should be able to get them for you. If I find the part number I'll send it later.

Re: what are the wheel offsets for 997 C4S 19 wheels?

Thanks. That was the answer I needed. I just got take off 19 sport designs off ebay. I will be putting Continental winter tires on them. The rears are 51 offset. So I will have to remove the spacers. Next question. What should I do about the TPMS sensors. The 2007;s in Canada are standard with TPMS. Should I order 4 more (at $600 total) or can you peel them out at change over without removing the tire. Or can I disable TPMS for winter.

The tire has to be removed to get to the TPM sensors. I ordered a second set of 4 sensors plus valve stems (you need these too) for US$390 shipped from Sunset Imports in Oregon. I don't think TPMS can be disabled.

Re: what are the wheel offsets for 997 C4S 19 wheels?

Thanks for that information. Last question. How much should I pay for the 10 regular size wheel studs.

I think from $7 to $9 each. Check with the guys at Sunset Imports.

Re: what are the wheel offsets for 997 C4S 19 wheels?

Woops missed that point...u r correct & am wrong. They would have been the wrong size rims. Probably cheaper to get the correct rims than a new Porsche C4S to fit the wrong rims bought on Ebay at a great price.

Re: what are the wheel offsets for 997 C4S 19 wheels?

I think you are wrong. I am pretty sure all I have to do is take off spacers as jhbrennan described to fit sport designs on C4S where sports came from factory. This makes sense. Anyway, I now own an amazing new takeoff set of sport designs from a 2006 C4S with new PS2s for $2550 from a Porsche dealer.

Re: what are the wheel offsets for 997 C4S 19 wheels?

    That was a deal!

sorry for the confusion. I was looking to see If I can mount 18" C4 (carrea III) wheels on C2S (especially the rear)
