Tesla Model 3
$35K base, 0-60 in under 6s, 215 mile range, comfortably fit 5 adults. Entire roof is more or less glass. Will have larger battery sizes and offered single or dual motor.
Interesting interior. Looks like a steering wheel and a Mac. Apparently 115K pre-orders and delivery isn't even until the end of 2017.
One thing to keep in mind is that the prices are usually already factoring in tax savings. If it's $35K and factoring in $7500 in tax savings, then it's actually $42500. I also read an article on US tax rules regarding these EV tax savings. Apparently the $7500 is limited to the first 200K EVs a company sells, then it become $3750 and halves again over the next year. So far Tesla has sold about 50K cars in the US and expected to sell 90K more this year. If the 3 deliveries don't start until the end of the 2017, then those large savings may disappear very quickly, significantly increasing the price.
