    Philips 6000 xenon bulb's

I would like to Put Xenon 6,000 Philips bulbs in my turbo to replace the standard low beams. Are they H2's,H4's, 9007s, H11's ,9006's The Porsche part number does not seem to indicate clearly which Philips bulb it is. How about the high beams and fog lights? Any ideas?

    Re: Philips 6000 xenon bulb's

Try looking at the owner's manual? Does it say anything? I'm guessing that the foglights are probably 9006's since those bulbs are typically used. Highbeams are probably H4's. I'd look in the manual to be sure.

    Re: Philips 6000 xenon bulb's

Be careful about legal issues. There's a notice on most websites that says the bulbs are for off-road use only. I think the Litronic (full headlight assembly) is the only one that's legal.

    Re: Philips 6000 xenon bulb's

I put 6k HID bulbs in my lowbeams and foglights in my M5. Never had a problem with the officers in white.

    Re: Philips 6000 xenon bulb's

Porsche use D1S so your out of luck for swapping to Philips as they dont make that specific fitment (yet) in the Ultinon.

If you dont have HID's your low beam is H7, high beam H11 and fog is H8.

    Re: Philips 6000 xenon bulb's

above post is for 997 non turbo (I read your username and posted). Im not sure about the fog lamp fitment in the turbo but low beam is D1S HID, osram or Philips OEM.
These guys will help you out, I buy all my lights from them

Yes, i have a new Turbo even though my user name idicated that I dont so I guess I am out of luck! Thanks for your help

    Philips Ultinon D2S 6000k

997 Carrera/S/Turbo all use the same headlights. The lowbeam is D2S. They are very EASY to replace. I replaced them on all my recent cars RS6, SL55, 996TT, 9974S. I can take a picture of them if you like...6000k is blue/white, no more yellow in the beam.

    Re: Philips Ultinon D2S 6000k

Sure love to see a picture. Where did you buy yours. Somewhere in Vancouver?

    Re: Philips Ultinon D2S 6000k

    Hi:

You can buy them on ebay...search " Philips 6000k D2S". The typically run for about US $180-190. Pics in the next few posts.

The first set of Philips D2S ultinon I bought was back in 2000, that set I had to get from the UK and back then, it was a staggering $400. But I love them so....

You can defintaly see the blue / white light in them even in the pictures. OK I will check out EBAY. Thanks

    Re: 997 4S 6000k Philips

No problem. I have an extra set that I bought for an RS4 but turns out they are D1S. The are brand new. PIAA D2S Super Cobalt 6600k. If you are interested in them, let me know. You can do a search for them on ebay as well. PIAA D2S.

Thanks , I already went out to EBAY and bought a set from a seller in Califonia. Do you know what bulb fits in the fog light spot in a turbo? I was over at benchmark last week and there was somebodys turbo from Van. Was that yours?

    Re: 997 4S 6000k Philips

So I'm a little bit confused. Do we use D2S or D1S bulbs in the lowbeams?

    D2S for all Porsche 996/997/986/987

D1S was for the Audi RS4. Sorry for the confusiion.

    Re: Philips Ultinon D2S 6000k

just curious, in looking at these lamps there is also something called the phillips 6500 k d2s, any thoughts about this. i've always been a one is good six is better type so.. is this indeed better? thanks

    Re: Philips Ultinon D2S 6000k

Rich, post pictures once you get your bulbs installed. I might want to do the same too. I'm thinking of putting HID in the foglights or maybe yellow bulbs instead.

Ok i did the install today. The first Picture is of the Passenger side with the factory bulb.

This image is the driver's side with the new Philips 6K bulb. Notice how much bluer it is.

This last image is off the garage wall with the Philips 6000 in the driver's side and the stock bulb in the passenger side . There is a noticeable difference between the two bulbs

    Re: Philips Ultinon D2S 6000k

Looks great Rich! Was it hard to change those bulbs? I noticed that you had the manual out on the hood. I'm guessing that instructions were in there? I ordered the bulbs from ebay just now. Are you planning to do the Hi-beams and foglights? I was thinking of putting in PIAA yellow bulbs in the foglights instead. The light guide says that the C2S/C4S foglights use H8-35W bulbs but somehow I doubt that's the same for the Turbo. The highbeams are H11-55W bulbs.

We're both "mod" crazy from the looks of it. I'm planning to go with the Champion RG5 wheels. You had your windows tinted from what I can see. 35% from Accutint?

    Re: Philips Ultinon D2S 6000k

Yes the instructions are there in the manual. The headlight comes out very easy. There is a tool in the base of the truck area made especially to do this. One half turn and the whole unit comes out. No wires left or anything. I have not thought about the other bulbs yet, But ya sure I most likely will change them as well.

    Re: Philips Ultinon D2S 6000k

There was another thread in the 997 forum about someone's headlights stolen from his car in less than half hour. I didn't realize that it was so easy to remove the headlights..Porsche might have to rethink things through.

    Here's the thread:

    Thanks for the tips, Rich.

    Re: Philips Ultinon D2S 6000k

NWturbo: are the Philips or the PIAA a buyable item here in Vancouver or mail order only?

Jason: when is your car schedule to arrive?

    Re: Philips Ultinon D2S 6000k

I'm not sure if you can buy those bulbs up in Vancouver. I don't even know if you can buy them locally in Seattle either.

My car is scheduled to arrive at my dealership in late October/early November.

Yes I read that thread. Scary. Now that I have done it once, I could take out both headlight assemblies once the bonnet is open in less than A minute!

    Re: Philips Ultinon D2S 6000k

I bought it from the same guy too.

    Re: Philips Ultinon D2S 6000k

And I just bought a pair from him too. I wonder if we should recommend these to Eric also.
