According to my source(one of the Audi's director of sales in Europe) NO! S-Tronic(DSG) is very close in character to automatic gearbox. For true sports car like R8 sequential gearbox(a la e.gear) is far better choice according to him and me. Did you try new e.gear in Gallardo? It is amazing... Check out big comparison test in English Autoexpress, I posted in this board about it yesterday. Gallardo was better then 997 Turbo is several key areas.
R8 will be more or less on Gallardo level with V10 and slightly below it with V8. In any case both R8 and Gallardo are my current favorites!

Exactly what I was thinking. The LED strip first shown at S6 would really look nice at the R8. But perhaps we will see something like this at the V10 version.
Anyway, I rather like the looks of the R8, especially the rear. IMO the rear looks even better than the front.
And yes, Zuffenhausen should watch out.

I did understand. I was talking about the S6 just because of the LED strip, but located higher underneath the headlights.
But if I look at this camo pic, I really hope we will see the strip at the final product. It would give the front a very nice touch IMO, currently missing in the pics that Kreso showed us.

just had the possibility to take a closer look at the brand new audi s6 sw of a friend of mine and two things stand out imo:
1.the engine looks and sounds beautifully. I can absolutely imagine how it would look under a glass cover in the r10 when it is not so crammed in as in the s6. stunning, like an object of art!
2. the interior finish of that car is amazing! at least compared to my turbo and my bmw, that car is on another planet. another good reason why zuffenhausen should be worried..

Absolutely, Audi has the best finish and build quality of all German car makers if you ask me.

But, R8(and future R10) are aimed to cars like 997 Carrera S, Aston Martin V8 Vantage, BMW M6.... In true it is the same concept as Gallardo or F430-true mid engined sports car!
Car will be awsome with V8 engine, do not doubt it.
