Here´s a brief report after some weeks with the Hybrid. Fuel consumption is not that great, engine is making 14,5 L/100 without any excess, I thought it was more economical. The V6 engine doesn´t have character, it sounds like any other ordinary V6.
Power is good enough for the use we give, nothing really special. You only have 380hp available at full throttle when the electric engine kicks in together with petrol, apart from that you have 330hp and at high revs. You need to have an egg between your foot and throttle in order to have the electric engine kick in, if you press to hard the throttle, petrol engine kicks in, but you almost don´t feel it, it´s really a very, very smooth passage from electric to petrol, very nice job from Porsche here. The cruise mode is nice and you can roll at 80/100kph on electric mode, but again, with an egg under the foot. In the beginning it was almost stressing driving the thing trying to have it in electric mode most time possible, then I gave up and started to drive like any other car. In parking lots it´s always in Celtic mode and on traffic jam too, that´s where you really feel the difference in consumption. Brakes are very powerful for a SUV, it stops in no time, my wife loves it.
Car came with some nice options that I was not used to like keyless and ventilated seats, after having it , you really miss it on other cars. The air suspension is a must on these models, the drive is very comfortable having in mind car came with 21" wheels. Better ride than my BMW X6 4.0D. The stalks behind the steering wheel to operate the blinkers etc have a lousy plastic feel to it than you don´t find even on a Fiat Punto, not proper for a car from this segment, even my wife notice it. The interior is dark brown and looks great. Driving position was hard to find at beginning, only several weeks after I was able to feel comfortable and more "in" the seat than "on" the seat. The marriage between tiptronic box and engine is good, it operates in a smooth and relaxed way. Buttons on the steering to operate theTiptronic are awful, so much better to have paddles, Porsche should really give up this system.
Short comparo with my X6 I would say the build quality on Porsche is much better in all aspects. Materials, fit and finish, etc.Overall design in and out much better on Porsche too.. Autobox is better and faster on X6, the Tiptronic seems from the 90 compared with the X6. Driving position is also better on X6, steering feel is good in both models and very direct in both even more on X6 which I like. The torque on X6 is superior which makes it pleasant to use in city driving, but V6 from Porsche has good torque too and after 4000rpm where the X6 is dieing , Porsche is becoming alive. Highway speeds both are very stable, but I feel safer in Porsche, much more silent and quite inside, better for long trips.Overall this Porsche is a better product than X6 no doubt about it. The BMW as some unacceptable build quality bugs that I post on the following pics. Mine has only 80.000 kms it´s one of my daily drive and seems to be getting old faster than expected, I treat him well believe me.
Door handle from passenger side if falling apart, to the point of letting your hands in a mess each time you put the hands there. It´s melting plastic
Peeled pastic on the steering wheel,
I´m 1,92mts with 90Kgs but still, it´s not acceptable to have driver seat in this state with only 80k.
But most important is happy wife driving the new beauty
Just one last remarque. I don´t like black wheels, was thinking on painting in carbon color like this one, and keep the silver ring. What do you guys think?
Or even Silver !!!
