    Bose Sound System

    Is the Bose sound package worth the money? How much different is it than the Sound Package Plus. Or would I be better of spending it on something else. Will I hear that much difference in the sound?

    I realize this is a sports car and the engine is very prominent. I listened to it the dealership and it was OK but I wasnt awed by it.

    I have never been impressed with Bose for the home and always thought you were paying for the name. I am not an audiofile and typically like the stereo in the background when I drive, typically dont like it pounding into my skull (though that might be a good thing).

    IMO the Sound Package is a fair deal, no need for Bose. Boxster cabin is very small anyway.

    I wouldn't expect the boxster engine sound to be too prominent. IMO it isn't.

    I have just specced my second 987 with the benefit of lessons learnt from the experiences of the first one. I had Bose in the first car and it sounded fabulous - in the garage with the engine switched off. On the move it competes with the wonderful engine sound, and comes second, so I hardly ever listened to it. As a consequence I've gone for the Sound Package Plus in the next car.

    And how do you like the SPP compared to the Blows setup?

    I'd never buy the Bose again. It sucks. Reus Audio can make either system sound grand, so if I were to do it all again...

    Mine came free (dealer threw it in)

    Otherwise, I would not have opted for it again. I'd take that cash and put it towards a new exhaust

    I fully admit that I'm not a hi-fi enthusiast. To me, when the car was stationary with engine off the Bose sounded fantastic. I'd love my home hi-fi to sound like that (I've just got a cheap Pioneer midi system). But in a Porsche I love the sound of that flat six too much to have it diluted by car audio. I like a reasonable sound, so the Sound Package Plus made a reasonable compromise. Also, to keep anywhere close to my budget and not lose some of my "must haves" the Bose was a fairly easy sacrifice.

    I'd go with dreamcar - the bose might be nice stationary, but its a car, and one the nmove there is little to choose. Don;t dismiss the std set up - this has no amplifier in the front boot, and if you wnat to add aftermarket amps later it will be much easier

    It's going to be a pain with the MOST bus....

    Ive got Bose in Audi TT and it`s nothing special... In next car I will not order it..

    Why - the std head ubnit has ISO connectors for power in etc and speakers out, as its powered by its internal amp. I can't see any reason for MOST-Bus on this set-up, even coding the head unit to the cars ecu for security must be through copper cable ??

    You could run a pre-amp affair, but most installers I've talked to have said that for the MOST bus crap they'd want to run new lines throughout the whole car.
