    Picking up my car tomorrow!

    Got the call this afternoon - my MY07 C2S Cab is at the dealer, and will be ready tomorrow afternoon for delivery.

    A fond farewell to my 99 986, which has been great fun. It is still a blast to drive and handles perfectly, even if the springs are getting a bit soft with age.

    There was some question about delivery times in another thread. The schedule for this car was:

    Initial Order - April 22 (as model year 06)
    Build - on or around July 24 (as model year 07)
    Arrive NJ - on or around August 18
    Delivery - August 25


    Spec:

    Midnight Blue / Metropol Blue / Sand Beige
    Nav
    Bose (I now, it's controversial, but I want it)
    Hard Top
    Power / Heated Seats
    And let's not forget the (trumpets!) floor mats

    Congratulations on your new ride. I just hope you don't beat me to posting pictures (I've had mine for about 4 weeks and have yet to post anything but my avatar)!

    When are you having the PSE installed? lol

    Puffy, Puffy, Oh Puff, the car is perfect, you dont have to make it, or fake it!! LoooL, just point and click baby, then we all smile and give you nice compliments. Remember, point the camera at the rear and get a great close up of the PSE

    Is that a 'super smooth bud' or 'a super smooth one, bud'? Or both?

    Picked it up. Delayed over an hour; the rain this morning flooded the streets around the dealer and they wouldn't drive any of the new cars for delivery from the storage lot to the service area for prep. By the time I left I was in Friday afternoon rush hour traffic, so not a lot of zoom zoom on the way home. Although I have to say the car gets to 4000 rpm real fast!

    I made them help me take the hard top off once and then put it back on just to make sure I know the procedure. They've apparently never sold a 997 with a hard top, and the procedure was slightly different than the 996.

    I have to say that with the hard top on it seems as quiet as a coupe. Much quieter than the Boxster. And I'm really pleased with the way the Bose sounds. I loaded two CDs with mp3s, so I've got over 300 songs in the car despite the lack of my IPod. I could fit all the songs onto about 30 CDs, and I probably don't need all of them. And I save $1,500 ...

    Anyway, I've got it now.

    Congratulations - the Boxster is a great car and I really enjoyed owning one, but the 911 takes things to a whole new level. Take the time to get to know the car before booting it!

    I would love to see pics of your' hard top', that was a great idea to have for looks and sound.

    4000 rpm's , it does come quick, but great sound huh?

    The wind screen and windows are surprisingly effective. Got a chance to ride home from work today with the top down in the 95% humidity; real sweet. You can see how the ground is still wet from rain in the early morning; it's so humid, nothing is evaporating.
